Black River Technical College is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Support Technician for the Computer Services and Distance Education departments on the Paragould campus. This is a full-time, 12-month, non-classified position currently funded by the HEERF grant with the intention of future funding through the college fee structure.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist users with questions and concerns related to hardware, software, networking, and Moodle (LMS); develops and maintains current expertise in a variety of application software packages; installs, configures and maintains network, hardware and software at various levels; tests and debugs programs as necessary; assist in planning, preparation and conducting user training on software, hardware, network, or other computer support services; creates, modifies, and purges LMS user accounts and creates, modifies, copies, and deletes LMS courses as needed; ensures online courses are opened and closed at appropriate times; meets with Paragould instructors at least weekly; troubleshoots technical issues with LMS; assists with planning, creation of, and conducting training for students, faculty, and staff; maintains an understanding of online course management, learning management systems, and other software and hardware in order to provide comprehensive distance education support to students, faculty, staff, and community; assist with departmental initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
The formal education equivalent of a Baccalaureate degree with a major in computer applications, computer science, or related field plus one-year experience in computer applications or related field is preferred. Experience providing hardware, software, and user support in a large network environment is preferred. Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements.
