An incredible opportunity has presented itself for an experienced Quality and Infection Prevention Specialist at Black River Memorial Hospital (BRMH). The Quality and Infection Prevention Specialist plays a pivotal role in meeting patients, personnel, and organizational needs. This position involves leading, planning, organizing, evaluating, and controlling infection prevention activities while applying quality-based care and improvement practices. Essential Duties:

• Develops, coordinates, implements, monitors, and evaluates all phases of the infection prevention programs by interpreting and ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Utilizes electronic medical records and surveillance systems to review clinical and laboratory findings to identify infectious conditions and take appropriate actions.
• Conducts training and education on infection prevention, quality improvement, and safety cultures for all employee levels, utilizing educational theories and principles.
• Conducts periodic risk/needs assessments, audits, and tracer activities to identify quality, risk, and infection prevention gaps. Prepares, creates, and maintains records, reports, statistics, and other documents and files as required.
• Researches and produces internal and external organizational benchmarking reports, leads and participates in performance improvement processes.
• Assists the Director of Organizational Development and Quality in reviewing and addressing quality of care and risk-related issues, participating in the development of best practices.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in a clinically-based healthcare profession preferred; current certification or licensure as required in the State of WI
• Minimum of 5 years of experience providing direct patient care in an acute care hospital setting preferred
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in either infection prevention or a quality position preferred
• Certification in Infection Prevention is preferred; Certification in infection control (CIC) required within 3 years of hire
