Black Hills Energy is Hiring a Treasury Manager or Senior Manager Near Rapid, SD

Job Specifications

This is a key role within the Company's Treasury team, responsible for corporate liquidity management, credit, and pension and benefit plans investment and funding strategies and accounting. You will lead a team responsible for cash management, banking accounts and relationships, short-term investments, cash forecasting, intercompany cash pooling, and the credit function, ensuring compliance with Company policies and procedures. Provide leadership in ensuring accurate and timely accounting and reporting of all financial data, including providing financial reports and presentations required by company management. Manage team in accounting for pension and benefit plans and management of relationships with actuaries and investment advisors.

Pay Range: Determined by the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant.
* Manager: $110,900 - $183,100
* Senior Manager: $121,850 - $201,250

Essential Functions:
Manager:

* Oversee and manage the Company's liquidity position, including daily cash management, money pool, letters of credit, revolving credit facility, and treasury workstation administration. Lead team in developing short-term cash forecasts to manage liquidity and drive borrowing and investment strategies.
* Review credit reports, establish and approve credit limits consistent with the Company's credit policies and procedures. Respond to new or existing credit inquiries (unsecured, secured, letter of credit or parent guarantee) from external parties, in compliance with Company policies and procedures.
* Manage compliance with internal controls as defined within Sarbanes-Oxley documentation for Treasury operations and pension and benefits accounting. Supervise completion of SEC financial disclosures related to cash, money pool, short-term interest, and pension and benefits. Oversee and review process flow and procedure documentation process.
* Create or review filings and presentations related to all internal and external compliance and reporting requirements completed within Treasury including SEC reporting, SOX, pension and benefits activities, cash management and regulatory filings.
* Participate in the development and execution of utility rate reviews to ensure timely recovery of costs, including overseeing the preparation of supporting schedules and responding to data requests related to cash, money pool, short-term interest, and pension and benefits.
* Develop and maintain strong understanding of the Company's pension and benefit plans and support the third-party investment and funding strategies of these plans.
* Ensure accurate and timely accounting related to cash, money pool, short-term interest, and pension and benefits. Lead team in understanding and interpreting complex accounting pronouncements applicable to Treasury related activities.
* Guide employee development plans for direct reports to enhance their professional development. Determine and set priorities for direct reports.
* Cross-train to back up other areas of Treasury as needed and manage or participate in ad-hoc special projects.

Sr. Manager: (Additional Responsibilities)

* Present to senior leadership, members of the executive credit committee and other executive committees on behalf of Treasury regarding various matters including corporate liquidity management, credit, and pension and benefit plans investment and funding strategies.
* Manage key relationships with banks, actuaries, and investment advisors.
* Provide strategic guidance and leadership with respect to investment and funding strategies of the pension and benefit plans, including participation in benefits committee activities and investment subcommittee strategic activities.
* Drive optimization of borrowing and investment strategies based on daily liquidity management and in partnership with the Treasury capital markets team. Understand and optimize bank contracts and financing agreements.
* Represent the Treasury department in the development and execution of utility rate reviews to ensure timely recovery of costs, including writing and/or sponsoring testimony related to cash, money pool, short-term interest, and pension and benefits.
* Champion continuous improvement and implement best practices/controls across all treasury functions.

What You'll Need:

Manager:
* Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
* 5 or more years experience in corporate treasury, finance, accounting, or related field; prior experience within the utility industry or a publicly traded company is desired.

Senior Manager:
* Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
* 7 or more years experience in corporate treasury, finance, accounting or related field is required; prior experience within the utility industry or a publicly traded company is desired.

What Is Desired Or Can Be Taught:

* Experience working with Hyperion Essbase/SmartView, Hyperion Planning, Hyperion Strategic Finance, or a large accounting software system such as PeopleSoft is a plus.
* Certifications that are desirable include: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Treasury Professional (CTP), and/or Certified Financial Analyst (CFA).
* Understands how operational and financial decisions impact the financial statements and results, including impacts to rate making model, GAAP, FERC, SEC reporting and internal controls. Understands risk factors and mitigation of risk.
* Demonstrates the ability to collect, analyze, model and interpret information to evaluate accuracy of expected results, articulate the financial implications and enable informed decision making that considers impacts across the company.
* Understands data, data mining tools (ie: Excel, Essbase, etc.) and system interfaces and applies technology solutions to job responsibilities. Leverages data mining tools and techniques to effectively organize information and explain performance.
* Establishes and promotes strategic and innovative thinking to achieve common goals as a team. Possesses honesty, integrity and empathy. Demonstrates active listening skills to successfully manage, mentor, empower, inspire and influence others.
* Possesses the ability to identify the problem and analyze potential solutions. Assesses risk and uses judgment when implementing change with clear understanding of cross-functional implications. Maintains a mind-set of continuous improvement.
* Understands the energy industry, regulated utility model and publicly traded business models.
