Black Hawk County is Hiring an ASSISTANT COUNTY ATTORNEY Near Waterloo, IA

JOB
Under general direction of the County Attorney conducts prosecution in court proceedings on behalf of county and states government; advises county concerning legal rights, obligations and privileges; performs related work as required.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Must be capable of regular and predictable attendance at a specified location in order to perform assigned tasks.Makes recommendation to County Attorney regarding advisability of prosecution and related courses of action;Interviews clients and witnesses to ascertain facts of case.Gathers and analyzes evidence in case of reviews pertinent decisions, policies, regulations and other legal matters pertaining to case;Provides evidence to formulate prosecution. Correlates findings and prepares case.Studies Constitution and examines legal data to determine advisability of defending or prosecuting lawsuit;Examines and accepts or rejects allotted number of potential jurors;Presents and conducts case before judge and jury;Examines and cross examines witnesses.Summarizes case to jury.May act as agent to the County on various transactions.Other duties as assignedExamines and accepts or rejects allotted number of potential jurors;Examines and cross examines witnesses.Summarizes case to jury.Supervision is received from the County AttorneyNo functional or administrative supervision is exercised over support staff.JD Degree from an accredited law school is required.Admission to the bar of the State of Iowa is required.Demonstrated job-related experience in a governmental environment is preferred.Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Supervision is received from the County AttorneySUPERVISION EXERCISED: No functional or administrative supervision is exercised over support staff.
