BL Companies has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Engineer to support our growing Energy team in Norwood, MA. This position requires a focus on project delivery. The candidate will have the opportunity to grow our presence in the flourishing New Jersey Energy market and take a leadership role within the group.

 General Responsibilities Include:

• Review project and develop detailed scope including gathering all pertinent drawings and data
• Hold & document pre-design & post-design field walkdowns
• Enter vaults and manholes to obtain field data/pictures with CLIENT assistance
• Identify and order long lead material including specification of appropriate construction units for the design
• Manage and participate in construction drawings completion utilizing AutoCAD
• Prepare and submit DOT municipal permit sketches and applications
• Perform QA/QC design peer reviews
• Provide construction support by participating in pre-bid meetings, answering field questions, and responding to any issues during construction
• Interpret red-line documents and notate as-built changes on record drawings for drafting updates

 Underground Line Design Secondary Network

• Perform electrical and cable pulling calculations
• Manage and participate in construction drawings completion utilizing AutoCAD
• Provide construction support by participating in pre-bid meetings, answering field questions, and responding to any issues during construction

 Overhead Line Design

• Utilize AutoCAD to layout line and obtain measurements
• Request field staking or perform staking for small projects
• Specify appropriate construction units for the design for construction order preparation
• Perform electrical, clearance, and strength calculations
• Coordinate projects with communication cable attachments and complete joint pole use requests

Required Experience:

• 8 years' experience designing electric utility power distribution (15 kV and below) overhead and underground lines OR 5 years experience designing distribution substations
• Must possess strong interpersonal, communications and technical skills
• BSEE is required
• PE Licensure Required
