Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

The Inpatient Coding Quality Coordinator is responsible for auditing the inpatient coding/abstracting quality in accordance with official coding and reimbursement guidelines. This includes serving as a coding subject matter expert, providing guidance on documentation integrity to support compliant coding, and identifying patterns and trends for educational opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews medical record documentation to ensure coding and abstracting assigned is complete and accurate in accordance with IPPS using ICD-10- CM and ICD-10-PCS Coding Classification systems.
  • Serves as subject matter expert for Enterprise Coding. Proactively identifies issues or trends and reports to Coding Leadership as appropriate.
  • Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with CDI, Quality, Compliance and other departments as appropriate.
  • Assists in development and delivery of coding education as requested.
  • Minimum Requirements

    Education

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience

  • 2-5 years
  • Licenses & Certifications

  • RHIT, CCS
