Responsibilities
·Completes relay coordinationanalyses and determines appropriate settings for substation projects.
·Leads the development ofcompany system protection philosophy; design of protection, control, andsubstation automation schemes, and specify relaying and associated equipment,including automation methodologies and large to complex remedial actionschemes.
·Performs studies, prepares, andprovides reports to executive management, internal and external customers, andacts as an expert witness, in legal proceedings, if required.
·Applies technical expertise andknowledge in developing state-of-the-art solutions for large to complexprotection problems, including the analysis of power system disturbances.
·Provides leadership, training,and direction to fellow staff members, and provides technical design andproject review in the absence of manager.
·Represents company in regionalforums and work groups as a technical subject matter expert on systemprotection issues.
·Ensures quality control andexternal customer service on assigned projects by providing constructionsupport and coordination with construction forces and proactively seeking andincorporating customer input.
·Ensures all compliance aspectsof position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies,codes, and regulations applicable to position and company, including NERC/WECCmandates.
·Participates in rotationalweekly 24/7 on-call duties and responds to system control center calls for allrelay related outages or alarms.
Required Skills
Education and Work Experience:
·Engineering degree from anaccredited college/university and 8 years industry experience with aProfessional Engineer (PE) license.Ifno PE license, must have 10 years as a practicing engineer.

Demonstrated knowledge of:
·Electric utility systemprotection principles
·Protection philosophiesemployed across the company.
Demonstrated skills such as:
·Technical analyses utilizingappropriate computer modeling techniques.
·Time management, organizational,oral, and written communication, interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving,and decision-making skills.
·Directing the work of a diversegroup of engineers in the absence of the designated manager.
Equipment and Applications:
·PCs, word processing,spreadsheet, and database software.
