An IT Industrial Control and Communications Systems Solution Architectopportunity to interested applicants. The following is a summary of theposition specifics. Our enterprise architecture team is settingup best in class enterprise architecture discipline that is aligned to businessstrategy and business outcome driven IT/OT (Operational Technology) strategyand guiding the realization of the strategy through enterprise class solutionarchitectures. You will join as a key member of the architecture team with afocus Industrial control and communications systems architecture domains,specializing in the areas of application of these technologies in the UtilityGas control, AMI services and plant operations. We are leading thistransformation journey with big picture thinking, streamlining the systems portfolio,and blending the innovation with the appropriate technology trends. 

 

The position isa member of the Enterprise Architecture team and responsible for Industrial IT andOT architecture that includes SCADA systems, Industrial Control Systems (ICS)networks, and radio communications systems (voice & data transport – bothenterprise and ICS). The primary role of the Architect is to ensure that therelevant Industrial IT and OT perspectives, standards, and practices are inline with strategies, policies and standards for design anddeployment of such systems across the enterprise. The position providesthought leadership on Industrial Control Systems, SCADA, and advanced radiocommunication infrastructure strategy and applying modern technology trendslike Mobility, IoT and Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) in alignment to thebusiness strategy and business objectives. The position also ensures theoverall IT/ICS and OT architecture is maintained in a coherent manner and thatappropriate considerations are made for its security, reliability, resilience,and quality. Finally, the position is required to interpret, use, andapply information from the environment to inform a range of continuousimprovement activities.

Day to Day:

·Recommends and develops the IT/ICS, SCADA and OTarchitecture strategic blueprint and roadmap ensuring the future statecomprehends business trends towards renewables (renewable natural gas,hydrogen…)

·The strategic architecture blueprint should alsocomprehend opportunities in communication network landscape for efficiencies,latest trends in Mobility, IoT and AMI in alignment with long-term businessgoals

·Accountable for the strategic architecture forthe Future Gas Control Room as set forth in the Gas Control Daily OperationsPlatform strategy, pipeline situational awareness, SCADA infrastructure andfield area network

·Advises and defines a unified communicationstrategy and architecture that considers the Gas Control, AMI, and other radiocommunication use cases in the enterprise.

·Advises, authors, and recommends IT/ICS, SCADAand OT solutions, processes, tools and methodologies.

·Assures autonomous process plant designs aboutIT/ICS, SCADA, and OT domains conform to established standards and establishedoperational/support paradigms 

·Performs long term planning for End of Life andEnd of Serviceable life of SCADA systems, Telemetry, and associated OTplatforms (including microwave and LMR), and the transition of commercialservices to other transport technologies

·Shares best practices, lessons learned andconstantly updates the technical system architecture requirements based onchanging technologies, and knowledge related to the latest vendor products andsolutions 

·Stays abreast of the latest innovations byparticipation in ecosystems comprised of industry, academia, and governmententities in the Utility sector

·Identifies and recommends areas appropriate forfurther study and participates in any Proof-of-Concept projects required tothoroughly investigate architectural possibilities and strengthen arguments fortheir adoption

·Collaborates with all relevant parties(including Enterprise Architecture, Gas Storage/Control, Network ControlSystems and Engineering) to review the objectives and constraints of eachsolution and determine conformance with the established ICS networkingarchitecture and support paradigm. Recommends the most suitable technicalarchitecture and defines the solution at a high level

·Identifies implementation risks and analysespotential impact on the IT/ICS system environment and on the achievement ofscheduled objectives

·Reviews and provide assessment of bandwidthutilization, reporting and management within existing constraints as part ofrecurring monitoring and keeping the ICS network capacity on par with thedemand

·Facilitates and enables the delivery of largecomplex projects

·Participates as a subject matter expert forexternal audit preparation, data gathering to demonstrate compliance

·Demonstrates appropriate leadership anddecision-making behaviours; maintains technical job knowledge and personalskill development

·Supports company’s commitment to a culture ofsafe work practices.

Come on your first day with:

·Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, ComputerEngineering or equivalent combination of education and experience; advanceddegree desirable

·Professional Engineer or pursuing P.E.certification desirable

·Deep technical experience in industrial controlsystems in one or more of the following areas: controls & automation,communications engineering, ICS networking or SCADA systems

·20 years of progressively responsible relatedexperience with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a technical leadership role

·Served as technical authority for SCADA systems,field telemetry or related ICS domains 

·Experience in designing, implementing,troubleshooting, and commissioning modern HMI/SCADA applications anddemonstrated problem solving skills using SCADA systems and architectures isrequired

·Experience in designing, implementing,troubleshooting, and commissioning advanced communications systems includingpoint-to-point microwave, MAS / LMR/ and DMR radio deployments desirable

·Experience in architecting, designing AMInetwork planning and data aggregation is highly desirable.

·Ability to provide level-of-effort estimates andcomplete strategy focused deliverables within allotted time

·Demonstrated desire to learn new technologiesand ability to adapt to new operating models and changing business requirementseffectively

·Strong customer service and collaboration skillsare required

·Demonstrated ability to communicate complexproblems and issues in a concise manner (oral/written) to many differentaudiences (customers, peers, and management) is required

·Demonstrated ability to lead and encouragecollaboration among a multi-discipline team of resources to accomplishestablished goals effectively and efficiently is required

·Demonstrated ability and willingness toinvestigate complex business problems in detail, diagnose, and provide aneffective and efficient alternative is required

·Strong consultation skills with the ability toprovide thought leadership and offer high level recommendations without thefull picture

·Knowledge of natural gas business is required

Able to focus and prioritize a complex set ofcompeting initiatives
