Job Title: Kindergarten-5th Grade Spanish Teacher
Program: Elementary
Reports to: Head of School
Employment Status: Part-Time (4 days/week; 0.8 FTE); Exempt
Report to Work Dates: All days that program is in session
Background:
Founded in 1970, Bixby School is a small independent school serving approximately 120 students from preschool through 5th grade. Some of the defining characteristics of a Bixby education include small classes of students who demonstrate a wide range of individual needs and strengths, and a strong focus on the social-emotional growth, independence, and creativity of students. Our students’ days are richly balanced with academics, play, movement, music, art, sports, and a nourishing, chef-prepared lunch. Position Summary
A Core Belief of Bixby School is that “committed, well-qualified teachers are fundamental to the success of our school.” As a Bixby School teacher, you will nurture students’ cognitive, academic, social and emotional growth and development in a manner that reflects Bixby’s mission to: “nurture children’s love of learning as they discover their individual gifts and prepare to make meaningful contributions to their world.”
Bixby’s Spanish language program introduces students to the language and culture of Spanish-speaking countries through stories, play and meaningful language. Conversational Spanish is intrSpanishto younger students through pictures, songs and games; some writing and reading is introduced in 4th and 5th grades. Students participate in two (2) 45-minute classes each week. Each class has approximately 5-10 students.

This position is a part-time (0.8) exempt position. Bixby School uses salary bands to determine equitable salaries, depending upon qualifications and experience. Starting annual salary for this position is $45,000 depending upon qualifications.
