Bismarck Public Schools is Hiring a Mentor/Leader Program 2024-2025 School Year (Internal Posting Only) Near Bismarck, ND
Internal Posting Only Goal of the Position:
Mentors are critical supports in guiding new teachers to enhance their planning, instruction, and content knowledge. Mentors help orient new teachers to the school community and to teaching in general. Mentors also serve as collegial and emotional supports for this challenging phase of a teacher's career. Responsibilities:
Follow all requirements & guidelines of the BPS Mentorship Program as well as the ND Teacher Support System Mentor Program
Attend the required portion of New Teacher Orientation in August
Attend all four BPS mentor/mentee dinner professional development sessions and/or latte' sessions offered by Student Support Services
Provide constructive & direct feedback verbally and/or in writing
Meet with your mentee at regular scheduled times per the NDTSS/BPS guidelines outside of team collaboration time (PLCs, staff meetings etc.)
Guiding and modeling for mentee the BPS Vision, Mission and Core Values of the Strategic Plan
Support mentee in BPS systems process (ex. SAT, RTI, etc.)
Acknowledging the strengths, knowledge and gifts of the mentee and encouraging them in finding ways to utilize them within their role
Providing a safe environment for mentees to ask questions and seek advice
Encourage and guide mentee to purposeful professional development opportunities
Willingness to provide physical, emotional, institutional and instructional support
Recognizing when mentee needs support and independence
Provide mentee with options of BPS District support that is available to employees
Qualifications:
ND State Mentor training or willingness to receive this training
Ability and willingness to mentor up to five mentees
Strong organizational skills and ability to meet the time requirements
Time Commitment:
BPS Mentor Program requirements coincide and count toward the NDTSS guidelines
New Teacher Orientation - 12 hours
Mentor/Mentee Dinners/Latte' Sessions
Entire school year
Compensation:
ND State Program - $1800 - $2000 per Year1 Teacher enrolled in the state program; $1400 - $1600 per Year2 Teacher enrolled in the state program
BPS Program - $600 extra duty agreement, $100 daily stipend for orientation, curriculum rate for dinner night/latte' sessions (if not taking for credit)

This will be a full day of training for mentors with Tina Boogren on providing support to new staff. Wednesday, August 14
This will be a full day of training for mentors and their mentees with Tina Boogren Mentorship Dinners:
