Overview
Under the supervision of the Athletic Director, the basketball coach plays a pivotal role in shaping the athletic and personal development of student-athletes. With a strong emphasis on faith, leadership, communication, and strategic coaching, the coach is responsible for guiding and mentoring players both on and off the court. By fostering a positive team culture, instilling discipline, and promoting sportsmanship, with an intentional focus on the school’s mission and our Catholic values, the coach creates an environment where athletes can thrive and reach their full potential. Continuous professional development and a commitment to excellence are key characteristics of a successful high school varsity basketball coach, who serves as a role model and inspiration for the team members and the broader school community.
High Level Accountabilities
Organizing and leading practices.
Developing game strategies and tactics.
Ensuring player development and improvement.
Analyzing opponents and developing game plans.
Making in-game decisions and adjustments.
Managing player rotations and substitutions
Providing individual coaching and feedback.
Monitoring player progress and skill development.
Creating a positive and supportive team environment.
In conjunction with the Athletic Director, creating a strong and positive environment for current and future program participants.
Scheduling games and practices.
Managing team budget and equipment.
Communicating with players, parents, and school administration.
Serving as a spiritual and athletic role model for players.
Building teamwork and sportsmanship.
Fostering a culture of respect, faith, and discipline.
