Job Summary

The Managing Director - Asset Management is ultimately accountable for the profitability of Birgo’s property portfolio, along with tenant satisfaction and other performance metrics. This key leader collaborates with the leadership team, asset management, centralized maintenance, and regional managers to set strategic direction and implement plans to reach our goal of $1b in AUM by 2030.

Core Responsibilities

  • Set cash flow targets, approve annual operations plans, and achieve those targets
  • Lead the development and execution of business plans for assets across Birgo’s portfolio to maximize value and performance while also providing a positive tenant experience
  • Provide leadership and management to direct reports to promote ongoing development and accountability
  • Evaluate and report on property performance relative to forecasts, asset strategies, and investment targets
  • Provide strategic direction to the takeover of new assets and ensure a successful transition into the portfolio, including support for underwriting and due diligence
  • Oversee refinancing and disposition operations
  • Identify, prioritize, complete, and implement organizational improvement projects that foster growth and scalability
  • Collaboratively set strategy and policy for maintenance, property management, and leasing teams to meet the goals, standards, and needs of the company and the market
  • Oversee the personnel strategy and structure for all Operations team members
  • Visit properties across the portfolio to ensure strategy execution
  • Other duties as assigned to help Birgo improve lives through real estate

Successful Candidate Profile
Knowledge:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Extensive understanding of real estate finance, deal structures, leasing, lease documents, and property operations
  • Working knowledge of Excel and other financial modeling tools

Experience:

  • 10 years institutional asset management experience
  • 5 years property management experience
  • 10 years successive leadership experience

Skills:

  • Highly adept at complex decision-making and strategy development
  • Demonstrable excellence in people and team leadership and management
  • Strong, adaptive interpersonal and communication skills (written & verbal) to connect with diverse audiences
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills and time management
  • Budget analysis
  • Familiar with AppFolio, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office
  • Proficient in use of Predictive Index (preferred)
