Responsibilities:

Providing all general support activities to the Remote Pilot in Command (RPIC) or AirBoss, as requested. A VO is required to increase situational awareness and provide a ‘First line of defense’ against distractions. If used, the RPIC must ensure compliance with Title 14, C.F.R. Part 107.33. In addition, the following responsibilities will apply:
Maintain a ‘third-person’ understanding of the UAS operation and condition
Maintain Situational Awareness of the entire Area of Operation
In conjunction with RPIC, verify that the Preflight Inspection is complete
Verify required documentation valid and readily accessible
Document takeoff time, time aloft and assets captured
Deliver a verbal “All clear” to RPIC after ensuring area is clear for takeoff
Communicate to RPIC if Visual Line of Sight (VLOS) is lost
Report observed hazards to the RPIC
Assist in maintaining a ‘Sterile Cockpit’ environment during flight
Deliver a verbal “All clear” to RPIC after ensuring area is clear for landing
No person may act as a VO for more than one unmanned aircraft at a time
Handle interlopers during operations
Assist the RPIC as needed
Support Data Management Team, as required
Upon completion of inspections, the VO/SOs conduct the following:
Data quality checks
Malware checks on all data
Uploading of data to Data Management Team's cloud database, if required.
Other duties as assigned
NOTE: If VLOS duties are transferred to another crew member, delegation must be acknowledged by the entire crew

Requirements

U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) or asylum/refugee status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
1 years’ experience in the Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Industry
Must be experienced with the Microsoft Office 365 suite
Current UAS 107 Certification

Preferences

Experienced UAS visual observer or pilot
Recent flight test/operational experience with a multitude of UAS Systems.

Physical Demands

Due to scheduling demands, must be able to work weekends as needed
Able to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions and traverse uneven ground and varying terrain (Frequent)
Required to sit and stand and a passenger in a vehicle for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and telephone (Frequent).
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
