ESSENTIAL
DESIRABLE
Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture
Experience in ship construction.
Minimum 4 years of experience in hull form development, arrangements, resistance and propulsion, structural design, hydrostatics, hydrodynamics, vibrations, weight, or stability analysis.
Experience with government procurement and contracting, in particular reviewing requirements and performing specification traces.
Experience leading small teams of engineers.
Required Professional Skills:
Knowledge of steel and aluminum shipbuilding, mechanical and electrical systems to ABS, USCG, IMO and other regulatory requirements.
CAD – Expert skills in AutoCAD, Rhino3D, or similar.
Advance Analysis – Knowledge of specialty naval architecture software for hull form, stability, motions, maneuvering, structures, or powering prediction.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Birdon’s senior management team, including Divisional and Functional Managers, may provide additional direction and duties from time to time.
Clear communication and people skills are necessary as direct contact with Birdon clients, prospective clients, and production team is an important aspect of this position. It is your responsibility to ensure that Birdon’s values and interests are maintained in support of the customer during all internal and external communications.
