Biosource Recruiting is Hiring an On-site Maintenance Specialist Near Boston, MA

Job Title: Field Service Technician

Location: Boston, Massachusetts

Salary: $65,000-75,000 per year, plus bonus

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Field Service Technician who is self-directed, comfortable with customer interactions, proficient in writing technical reports, and capable of making product improvement recommendations to the Engineering team in the Product Development Group. The Field Service Technician will be responsible for independently assembling, commissioning, inspecting, repairing, and troubleshooting systems both domestically and internationally.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in a Field Service role with decision-making authority
  • Electronics or Electrical certificate or degree
  • Ability to travel approximately 70% of the time (domestic and international)
  • Proficiency in writing trip reports, return material authorizations, test reports, and corrective action reports
  • Highly preferred knowledge of PLCs
  • Ability to read, understand, and troubleshoot systems using electrical schematics
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows environment, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Clean driving record
  • No fear of heights
  • Experience with PLCs, VFDs, data acquisition, wiring, power equipment, and industrial electricity
  • Experience with Siemens, ABB, and TMEiC platforms highly preferred
  • Must hold or be able to obtain a valid passport with proper documentation for international travel

Responsibilities:

  • Frequent interaction with customers, vendors, and contractors
  • Schedule and coordinate participation of vested parties in inspecting and witnessing final equipment installations, as well as start-up and commissioning activities
  • Coordinate internally to ensure timely responses to customer inquiries
  • Troubleshoot and repair PLCs, VFDs, and other automated equipment both onsite and remotely
  • Perform routine inspections of existing system installations
  • Implement pre-commissioning activities in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and automation disciplines and ensure quality of work and reports
  • Travel to customer sites for final commissioning and equipment functionality demonstrations
  • Support project team in clearing punch list items and meeting project requirements
  • Participate in project and construction meetings
  • Provide technical training to end-user operators and maintenance personnel
  • Troubleshoot technical issues on-site and provide support to customers
  • Coordinate site visits and travel arrangements independently
  • Provide direct technical support for testing and field service activities
Salary: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00
