Biosero is Hiring a Director, Project Management Office Near San Diego, CA

This position oversees the planning and execution of process improvement initiatives through the implementation of project management process, product commercialization process and/or other practices in compliance with company’s quality policy. This person is also expected to manage multiple projects in collaboration with Biosero’s Executive Team, Management, Product Management, R&D, Operations and Quality.

In addition, this person will be responsible for helping to establish project management capabilities in the organization, including clarifying the role of project management, introducing templates, implementing a project/program management software tool, reports to support project management practices, and introducing project review processes to help us learn from our experiences and improve our project execution across the organization. This person will have supervisory duties for project managers as well as indirect matrix leadership of project participants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead various laboratory automation projects and other projects internally and through partnerships within the Engineering Team. Facilitate planning and schedule generation, resource management, and team and stakeholder communication.
  • Work with the cross functional core team to identify key risks to project success and appropriate mitigation plans
  • Implement a project scheduling tool to actively manage over 80 projects. This incudes resource planning and timeline management. 
  • Develop systems to translate organizational priorities into executive and leadership priorities annually, quarterly, monthly, weekly, and daily.
  • Build a project management team to support Biosero’s growing business.
  • Lead process change and improvement initiatives to ensure timely implementation
  • Develop project reports and project reviews to enable ongoing learning and improvement in project execution effectiveness
  • Establish and continuously improve project management processes in the organization to ensure effective project execution across the organization.
  • Utilize effective communication skills to liaise between all key stakeholders on a project
  • Supervise project management functions as needed.
  • Participate in relevant planning and prioritization activities
  • Support the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer in strategic planning, project management, and tactical execution of organizational priorities.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers for:
    • Project scheduling software (such as Microsoft Project)
    • Word processing
    • Simple accounting
    • Data base management
    • Spreadsheets
    • E-mail
    • Internet
    • On-line meeting

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • At least 10 years of professional experience overall, with a minimum of five years of senior-leadership experience supervising seasoned team members operating across multiple programs across a broad geography.
  • 6 years of project or program management or similar experience leading project teams
  • Experience with standard quality and regulatory practices

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • PMP certification
  • Familiarity with life science products and/or related technology
  • Familiarity with business systems (e.g. ERP, project management tools) in operational processes
  • Communicate Effectively: Speak, listen and write in a clear, thorough and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques within a diverse cross functional team.
  • Foster Teamwork: Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance project effectiveness.
  • Lead: Positively influence others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the organization.
  • Serve as a senior leader, inspiring and motivating others to engage fully and collaboratively in stewarding and executing the mission and vision of Biosero.
  • Make Decisions: Assess situations to determine the importance, urgency and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization.
  • Organize: Set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress towards goals, and track details/data/information/activities.
  • Plan: Determine strategies to move the project forward, create and implement actions to minimize delays, and anticipate requirements/actions to maintain schedule.
  • Solve Problems: Working with the Project Team, assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations that meet the company goals.
