The estimated salary range for this role based in California is between $91,500 and $142,135 annually. This role is eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and individual performance per bioMerieux’s bonus program. This range may differ from ranges offered for similar positions elsewhere in the country given differences in cost of living. Actual compensation within this range is determined based on the successful candidate’s experience and will be presented in writing at the time of the offer.

The Associate Staff Scientist is responsible for leading experiments and running samples on analytical instrumentation at the SDx site.
1.Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for analytical instrumentation operation and installations , establishing test methods for quantitation of critical materials and semi-finished goods, and as a representative member of cross-functional teams.
2.Lead, implement and/or assist development of qualitative/quantitative methods for analysis on analytical instruments.
3.Oversee analytical data requests, and ensure all analytical equipment is maintained according to procedures so that compliance and data integrity is ensured
4.Perform analytical testing projects related to the implementation of process improvements in the development, manufacturing and quality control areas in product development. Help troubleshoot with regards to experimental protocols and/or other technical difficulties.
5.Use knowledge and experience to perform experiments to support projects and or investigations as required.
6.Generate and maintain test methods, SOPs and training documents
7.Preform routine maintenance of the analytical instruments. Maintain instrumentation records, calibrations, and maintenance logs and all other product or project specific documentation.
8.Assist and engage in investigations, and work with personnel from operation microbiology team, formulations team to perform analytical testing and or wet chemistry experiments.
9.Write technical report with well documented data on experiments conducted. Analyze data collected in lab experiments using graphical and statistical methods. Clearly and efficiently communicate results and progress using presentation tools to peers and upper management.
10.Demonstrate time management and efficiency through careful planning and multi-tasking. Participate in critical cross training to ensure that lab support is available to support customer/other team requests.
11.Assist in any other miscellaneous lab activities that arise as part of the projects.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
1. B. S. degree in a chemistry or biochemistry or related field is desired.
2. A minimum of 10 years of working experience in cGMP regulated and ISO certified environments. Prefer industrial experience with GC- Mass spectroscopy (GCMS), LC Mass Spectrometry (LCMS),
3. knowledge of analytical analysis methodologies and instrumentation. This includes, but is not limited to, High Performance Liquid Chromatography (LC), Mass Spectrometry (MS), Liquid Chromatography with tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS/MS), Gas Chromatography (GC), Gas Chroamtography and mass spectroscopy (GCMS) and Ultraviolet-Visible Light Spectroscopy (UV-Vis)
4. Experience in and/ or knowledge of working in a manufacturing environment.
5.Must have computer skills including Microsoft Office (MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint)
6.Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision
7.Knowledge of experimental design (DoE), design controls, quality systems, and laboratory safety. Previous experience in environment is desired. Good laboratory technique and safe operation of lab equipment are essential skills.
8.Excellent chemical hygiene, experience working with hazardous materials
9.Strong focus and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize accuracy while following best practices in a fast-paced industrial laboratory environment
