BIOFerm is Hiring a Procurement Associate Near Madison, WI

BIOFerm™ is currently looking for a Procurement Associate. BIOFerm™ is a Wisconsin-based renewable energy company providing turnkey anaerobic digestion and gas upgrading facilities. Committed to sustainable and economical organic waste diversion, BIOFerm™’s digester technology harnesses biogas from fermenting organics—food waste, manure, biosolids, etc.—and converts it into valuable green energy, vehicle fuel, heat and organic products. Its biogas upgrading systems enable biogas producers to profitably upgrade biogas to renewable natural gas (RNG).

BIOFerm™ is looking for a Procurement Associate who will review, evaluate, process, and maintain contracts; purchase materials, supplies, equipment and service; analyze product sources, quality, price and availability; and apply sound business practices in the development and analysis of contracts and purchasing functions.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Establish and maintain material costs for job material list
  • Perform all purchasing tasks for construction starts: document ordering, permitting, approvals, etc.
  • Develop and build relationships with suppliers
  • Review and analyze contract language
  • Develop and maintain contracting timelines for assigned contracts/projects
  • Assist with pricing materials during bidding process
  • Negotiate and manage critical supply and service agreements; assist team with negotiation strategies, preparation, and execution
  • Ensure proper delegation and internal controls are in place for all procurement, contracting and supplier management processes
  • Evaluate offers to purchase by costing changes, additions, and site requirements
  • Obtain pricing bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors; negotiating price
  • Resolve cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
  • Coordinate and track the execution of contract documents by supplier
  • Ensure accuracy of Change Orders
  • Perform related administrative duties, as assigned

Competencies & Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Procurement/Supply Chain Management, Contract Management, engineering or related field with 3-5 years of experience in purchasing, production or equivalent experience in the construction field
  • Experience with technical and complex contracts with clients and subcontractors
  • Experience in analyzing information and developing budgets
  • Advanced knowledge of overall contracting principles and practices including administration of formal competitive bids
  • Advanced knowledge of principles of contract specification writing; thorough knowledge of negotiation techniques
  • Ability to negotiate and prepare for management review and approval high dollar, complex contracts and agreements
  • Ability to analyze and interpret contract terms and conditions
  • Ability to prioritize workload
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products including; Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficient data entry skills
  • Detail oriented and able to problem solve
  • Basic math skills
  • Valid US driver’s license
  • Must be authorized to work for any company in the United States. Must not require sponsorship, or continued sponsorship to work for any company in the United States
