Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper / Billing Specialist to join our team. You will be responsible for accurately managing the billing system and processing bills daily/weekly/monthly. The job also requires daily bookkeeping responsibilities working directly with the CFO. This is a vital role in our organization, as it directly impacts the financial health of our practice.

Responsibilities:

- Review and verify accuracy of patient demographic and insurance information

- Prepare and submit electronic and paper claims to insurance companies

- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, identifying any discrepancies or issues

- Resolve billing inquiries and disputes from patients or insurance companies

- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical coding systems (ICD-9, ICD-10) and reimbursement guidelines

- Collaborate with medical coders to ensure accurate coding of procedures and diagnoses

- Process payments received from insurance companies or patients

- Generate monthly reports on billing activities, including outstanding balances and collections

- Stay informed about changes in healthcare regulations and insurance policies that may impact billing processes

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in medical billing is a plus

- Proven experience working as a Billing Specialist in a healthcare setting

- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-9, ICD-10), and medical billing processes

- Familiarity with medical collection systems and practices

- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems for billing purposes

- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
