Our Construction Management team in Houston has an immediate need for a Utility Inspectors. In this role Under the supervision of a Professional Electrical Engineer, you will perform project related work in the utilities industry inspecting and reporting to clients.

What you will do:

  • Attends pre-construction meetings and answers questions from contractors and other attendees
  • Under the review and direction of Project Manager, perform field inspection and oversight of construction activities
  • Consults with Utility Engineers, resident project representatives and contractors' superintendents on work progress
  • Observes and inspects ongoing utility work
  • Maintains daily reports of inspection work along with detail records of project progress
  • Documents work progress and issues arising throughout scope of project through daily work reports submitted to Project Manager.
  • Review contract documents to verify compliance with governmental regulations and conformance with project requirements
  • Verify accuracy of payment requests and invoicing for completed work
  • Observe quality assurance testing and review test results for conformance with contract requirements
  • Experienced with TxDOT construction inspection and procedures
  • Ability to coordinate with contractors’ staff and effectively communicate with all parties
Job Requirements

Safety is in your DNA, and you follow all protocols consistently. You have above average communication skills both oral and in writing resulting in providing excellent customer service. You have good computer literacy and are not afraid to learn new programs and skills. You are a critical thinker who can apply knowledge to new assignments and uses critical thinking to bring everything together. You also excel in time management and may have developed these and other skills in an administrative or technical setting.

What you bring:

  • Minimum 2 - 5 years of construction and utility inspection services experience
  • Highly motivated and works well with minimal supervision
  • Capable of performing basic mathematical calculations
  • Ability to use personal computers and applicable programs such as Microsoft Office
  • Maintain a safe working environment
  • Work under exposure to inclement weather conditions
  • Possess good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of TxDOT specifications and standards
  • Able to read and interpret plans, specifications and applicable standards
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English; basic knowledge of Spanish is desirable
  • Ability and willingness to work day or night shifts and/or flexible schedules as required to support the project requirements
  • Ability to travel to projects outside of the Central Texas area to attend meetings
  • Ability to work in small spaces and move up to 50 pounds
  • Valid Class C driver’s license
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Additional projects as assigned
