Binghamton University's Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences, Division of Public Health, located at the newly renovated, state-of-the art health sciences campus in Johnson City, New York, is hiring for its Master of Public Health (MPH) program and invites applicants for full-time, campus-based, 10-month faculty appointments. The open rank clinical position encompasses teaching, innovation, and clinically-driven scholarship.

Responsibilities include:

The position requires graduate level teaching, as well as other academic responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Lecture development and delivery in classroom and online formats
  • Development, revision, and evaluation of courses in the Master of Public Health (MPH) program
  • Provide instruction and guidance for interprofessional education (IPE)
  • Conduct assessments of instructional effectiveness including participation in peer review
  • Engage in quality improvement related to curriculum and instruction
  • Serve as a faculty mentor for students enrolled in fieldwork experiences
  • Provide effective academic and career advising for enrolled students
  • Conduct scholarly activities that contribute to the field of public health or benefit community well-being
  • Participate in accreditation activities and processes
  • Serve on division-, college-, and university-level committees including in leadership roles, as appropriate
  • Attend faculty meetings and faculty retreats
  • Engage in professional and community service activities
  • Support Public Health Division recruitment activities and events
  • File an annual faculty report
  • Follow the university, college, and division policies and procedures
  • Maintain professional standards that ensure confidentiality of private records and personal information.

The candidate will be assigned courses based on area of expertise, contribute to advising and mentoring students, and engage in program, school, college, and university committees, as appropriate.

Faculty rank and salary are dependent upon the successful candidate's experience and qualifications.


Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree with at least five years of public health experience OR
  • Terminal academic degree with content expertise in public health, biological sciences, or a health-related field
  • At least three years of work experience in higher education
  • Minimum two years of experience in supervising/mentoring public health student projects
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in classroom instruction and assessment of student learning
  • Ability to conduct scholarly work that advances public health science or public health practice
  • Participation or service in professional organizations that advance the mission of public health
  • Ability to supervise and assess public health graduate students in fieldwork experiences
  • Ability to function effectively as a member of an interprofessional team
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of initiative and participate collaboratively in teams of faculty to support student success
  • Evidence of ongoing membership in local, regional, and national professional organizations.
  • Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong computer skills and willingness to become adept in school, college, and university software platforms and procedures
