Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Cutter to join our team. As a Cutter you will set up, operate and maintain a Polar cutting machine to cut paper stock preparatory to binding or folding.

The selected individual will be responsible for cutting materials according to specifications and ensuring that materials are accurately cut to meet production requirements.

Responsibilities and Duties:

· Set up and adjust Polar cutter for cutting operations

· Read and interpret work orders to determine cutting dimensions. Review specifications to determine page sequence, types of fold, and paper sheet size.

· Monitor machine operation and make adjustments as needed

· Check safety features before operating the cutter (turn off the machine when on breaks, lunch, end of shift)

· Enter cutting positions in proper order into computer memory.

· Jog and align sheets against the cutter guide in preparation for cutting.

· Examine cut material for any imperfections and adjust the computer program as needed.

· Remove finish or pre-finished material from the cutter bed and stack it on the pallets for shipment to the customer or the next operation.

· Inspect cut materials for quality and accuracy

· Change Gaylord or waste container as needed.

· Clean machine and work area at end of job and shift.

· Record job information on load tags and time sheets.

· Change knives and lubricate as needed based on recommendations by manufacturers’ specifications.

· Perform blade changes as needed and some preventative maintenance as required.

· Perform other duties as required by Supervisor/management.

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

· Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in cutting operations

· Ability to interact with other machine operators in the overall operation involved in the job.

· High School Graduate or equivalent

· Perform basic mathematical calculations and have the ability to determine conversion and cutting of material from rolls to sheets based on material received and the final size of materials to deliver to other departments.

· Know how to read a ruler, calipers, and other measuring devices

· Ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions and job tickets.

· Must be mechanically inclined.

· Must have basic electronic and computer keyboard knowledge

· Stand and walk 95% of the time.

· Extensive lifting and bending actions.

· Physically capable of lifting 50 lbs.

· Forklift certification is a plus

Working Conditions

· Manufacturing environment with noise exposure to varying levels.
