Position Summary:

The Production Planning Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of production planning within the food manufacturing facility. This role requires strong leadership, excellent organizational skills, and a deep understanding of production processes in the food industry including federal/state/local regulations (FDA, OSHA, Department of Agriculture, Department of Health, etc.), HACCP, and Global Food Safety Standards (BRC). The Production Planning Supervisor will collaborate closely with logistics, maintenance, shipping, and quality departments to ensure seamless coordination of production activities and optimize resource utilization to meet production targets while maintaining high quality standards.

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement production schedules to ensure timely and efficient execution of manufacturing processes, considering factors such as raw material availability, equipment capacity, and workforce availability.
• Coordinate with procurement, logistics, and inventory management teams to maintain adequate levels of raw materials and finished goods inventory to support production demands.
• Monitor production performance metrics, analyze production data, and identify areas for improvement to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and minimize downtime.
• Lead and supervise production planning team members, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure alignment with production goals and objectives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, maintenance, and engineering, to resolve production-related issues and implement process improvements.
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, quality standards, and company policies and procedures throughout the production planning process.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and external partners to facilitate smooth operations and minimize disruptions in the supply chain.
• Stay informed about industry trends, market demands, and technological advancements in production planning and recommend strategies to enhance competitiveness and profitability.

Education and Work History:

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, industrial engineering, operations management, or a related field. A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted.
• Previous experience (5 years) in production planning or scheduling within the food manufacturing industry.
• Extensive knowledge of bakery operations/processing/formulations.
