Hilton Asheville Biltmore Park is offering an exciting internship opportunity for high school students interested in gaining hands-on experience in the hospitality industry. This internship program provides a comprehensive overview of hotel operations, allowing interns to rotate through various departments, including banquets, restaurant, front desk operations, and housekeeping.
This is a four-month, paid internship experience, working up to 40 hours per week. The internship is designed to provide valuable insights and practical skills to young individuals looking to explore a career in the dynamic world of hospitality. The program aims to foster a supportive learning environment and provide participants with exposure to diverse aspects of hotel operations.
Hospitality High School Interns will learn about the Vanderbilt legacy of Hospitality with Biltmore Farms in addition to the culture and best practices of the Hilton brand. Interns will learn the intricacies of various hotel operations and supportive departments, and will enhance and apply their skills in communication, time management, decision making, and teamwork. Interns will meet with General Manager regularly to discuss progress toward internship goals and support needed.
DEPARTMENTAL DUTIES
Education & Eligibility:
Must be a currently enrolled high school student. Minimum age requirement of 16 years old, in adherence to North Carolina Youth Employment Rules.
Skills:
Professional in all dealings with guests and coworkers. Identify problems and review information. Must be able to use math skills to solve problems, quickly and correctly. Concentrate and not be distracted while performing a task. Must be able to multi-task. Anticipate guest needs. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
Physical:
Requires finger agility, grasping, writing, constant standing, sitting, frequent walking, repetitive motions, lifting, bending, pushing, and visual insight. Must be capable of lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 35 pounds. Must be able to work with cleaning products regularly and immerse hands in water and use cleaning solvents and detergents.
Housing
Housing will not be offered as part of the internship program. Recommendations are available for those seeking to secure short-term housing in the Asheville area.
