Biltmore Area Law Firm is Hiring an Insurance Defense Attorney Near Phoenix, AZ

Civil and commercial litigation firm located in the Biltmore area of Phoenix is currently seeking an experienced litigation attorney. The ideal candidate has at least four years of litigation experience with emphasis in insurance defense, general liability, construction defect and governmental liability defense. The litigation attorney will be responsible for their own assigned caseload from pre-trial litigation, including case evaluation from initial assignment through discovery, trial and post-trial procedures, as necessary.

We specialize in insurance defense litigation, including general liability, personal injury and wrongful death, construction defect litigation, as well as governmental liability defense. The firm also supports subrogation law, municipal law, and general business litigation.

Responsibilities

  • Research and prepare legal briefs, opinions and memoranda
  • Analyze and render opinions on liability, damages, case value and litigation handling recommendations
  • Prepare pleadings, motions, and discovery, handle oral arguments, and take and defend party, witness and expert depositions
  • Prepare for and defend litigated actions at trial, arbitration, or mediation, as applicable
  • Manage litigated matters from commencement to final resolution
  • Under general supervision, defend lawsuits brought against insureds, and represent carriers in subrogation, uninsured and underinsured motorist actions

Skills

  • Excellent research, writing, legal analysis and oral communication skills
  • Strong organization and matter management skills essential
  • Ability to self-start and work effectively under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work professionally and effectively within our firm and with our clients

Experience

  • Prior litigation experience handling general liability/insurance defense, construction defect and governmental liabilities
  • Trial and arbitration experience a plus

Qualifications

Must be able to travel as required, including, to attend trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings and conferences. Must be able to, with or without accommodation, perform the essential functions which include, but are not limited to seeing, hearing, typing, speaking, bending, reaching, lifting and standing for extended amounts of time. Must be able to access and utilize multiple pieces of office equipment that may require simultaneous use. Must be able to speak in a clear and professional manner by telephone and email. Must be able to document files in a clear, concise, professional written manner, to be understood by customers, clients, co-workers and other employees of the organization. Must be able to follow complex instructions, resolve conflicts or facilitate conflict resolution, and have strong organization/priority setting and multi-tasking skills. Must be able to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information. Must have the following education and experience: Juris Doctorate and law license in good standing to practice law in Arizona.
