Job Description:

The Medical Billing Office Manager will oversee all aspects of the billing and coding operations, ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely billing services to our healthcare clients. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of medical billing processes, coding standards, insurance regulations, and revenue cycle management. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in maximizing revenue, enhancing cash flow, and ensuring the financial efficiency of our operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the medical billing department, overseeing billing, coding, claims submission, payment posting, and follow-up on unpaid claims.
  • Manage, train, and support billing department staff, promoting adherence to best practices in billing, coding, and collections.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including HIPAA, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of billing regulations and insurance guidelines.
  • Optimize and maintain billing systems, databases, and software to ensure efficiency and accuracy in billing processes.
  • Analyze billing and collections data, identifying trends and areas for improvement, and implement strategies to enhance billing operations.
  • Facilitate effective communication between healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to resolve billing issues.
  • Prepare financial reports related to billing activities, analyze performance metrics, and provide insights and recommendations to management.
  • Maintain payer relationships, ensuring compliance with contracts and policies, and negotiate terms as necessary.
  • Develop initiatives to reduce the accounts receivable cycle, improve cash flow, and enhance overall financial performance.
  • Stay informed about the latest developments in billing software, technologies, and industry best practices.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical billing and coding, with at least 2 years in a management or supervisory role.
  • Profound knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10, CPT coding, and insurance regulations.
  • Proficient with electronic medical records (EMR) and billing software.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to prepare detailed financial reports.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • A commitment to maintaining high ethical standards and confidentiality.
