Pierce College is Hiring an Adjunct Faculty Pool- Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) Near Tacoma, WA

The education programs at Joint Base Lewis McChord are specifically designed to serve the needs of active-duty military personnel, their family members, VA benefit recipients, and civilians in the community. Accelerated terms, arranged courses, hybrid and online courses with two entry points per term meet specific needs of our non-traditional students.

Applications are now being accepted to create a pool of qualified applicants for anticipated part-time teaching positions at Joint Base Lewis McChord at the Stone and McChord Education Centers. We are currently seeking the following specializations:

Natural and Physical Sciences-

* Anthropology

* Biology

* Chemistry

Math-

* Calculus

* Math for Elementary Teachers I and II

Business & Social Sciences-

* Anthropology (ANTH 106- Cultural Anthropology)

Humanities-

* Arabic

Face to face rate of pay is $364.18 per student for a 5 credit lecture class, with a maximum of $5,462.75 for 15 or more students.

Online rate of pay is $273.10 per student for a 5 credit lecture class.

* Teach course(s) as assigned.

* Conduct assigned classes in a manner that promotes student success and incorporates various teaching styles and technology.

* Be available to students before and after class, and

* Work effectively with colleagues and students of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.

Required:

* Master's degree from an accredited institution in the specialized discipline.

* OR-

* Master's degree from an accredited institution within any discipline that includes 15 semester credits in the specific discipline that you are teaching in.

Other qualifications may be considered.

To be considered for this position, you must:

* Letter of formal application that addresses how your experience and education qualifies you to perform the assigned responsibilities (Cover Letter)

* Detailed curriculum vitae of all educational and professional experience, which includes a list of courses taught (Curriculum Vitae).

* Unofficial copies of all college and university transcripts that include degree received and confer date. International transcripts must include a foreign transcript evaluation. (Unofficial transcripts acceptable for application process; official transcripts required prior to hire) (Transcripts).

* A list of four current professional references with name, relationship to candidate, address, email address, and telephone number. Letters of recommendation will not be accepted in lieu of a list of professional references (References).

* Upload (attachment) a brief statement that describes your teaching philosophy/style and addresses strategies used to engage a wide diversity of students; your use of outcomes assessment measures; your use of active learning techniques; and your use of presentation and alternative modes of delivery in the classroom, or, via web-based learning (Teaching Philosophy).

* Provide a brief response to the following questions (Supplemental Questions):

* What personal and professional work have you done in order to broaden your understanding of racial equity and how the intersections of multiple social and cultural identities impact your work and relationships with others? AND

* How have you infused equity and inclusion into your classroom in order for students to be challenged/motivated/inspired to contribute to an equitable society? AND

* Pierce College has set a goal of eliminating areas of inequity for all student populations. How will you contribute to this effort at the classroom, program, and institutional levels?

Applications are being accepted to create a pool of qualified applicants for possible future part-time teaching positions within the Pierce College District. * Physical Work Environment: Work is performed in an instructional setting and requires the ability to communicate clearly. Work also includes the ability to use a personal computer.
