Bilco is Hiring a Control Technician Near Statesville, NC

  • The Controls Specialist reports to the Maintenance Manager as do the Electrical Technician, Shift Leaders, Maintenance Machinist, Maintenance Mechanics, Electricians and Central Stores Attendants. The position provides work direction to the maintenance craftsmen assigned by the Maintenance Shift Leader. The incumbent manages the controls-related aspects of capital equipment projects. This includes estimating costs, ordering materials, designing, documenting and verifying operations of all electric hydraulic, pneumatic and electronic control components. Must complete project within budget and time constraints. This position must follow OSHA regulations and N.E.C. codes. The incumbent identifies necessary machine/equipment modifications and then designs and documents controls enhancements on existing equipment with inadequate controls to improve productivity, safety, reliability, etc. Projects involving new technologies frequently require design changes as process capabilities are realized. Also, Manufacturing Engineering or Process Engineering may change certain mechanical aspects of a process, which affects how machine or equipment performs. In performing these responsibilities, the incumbent must communicate on a technical level with a wide range of engineer, supervisors, managers, Maintenance staff and machine operators. Must also maintain a good working relationship with outside suppliers to ensure Truth Hardware receives current “state of the art” devices and controls. Must have completed a two-year Vo-Tech program in electrical and five to ten years experience in Industrial Controls. Uses Computer Aided Design (CAD) in designing electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electronic circuits. Also, uses Ladder Logic and Basic computer language to provide higher level of machine programming. Must have a working knowledge of PC operating systems and local area network systems.
Provide project management for all aspects of capital equipment projects, including estimating costs, ordering materials, designing, documenting and verifying electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electronic operations of all control components. 2. Design and document controls enhancements in existing equipment and new equipment to improve productivity, safety, reliability, etc. 3. Ensure due dates are met while providing work direction and training to maintenance craftsmen. 4. Provide training to Maintenance and Operations personnel regarding new equipment and processes. 5. Ensure complete and current controls documentation of all machines and equipment is performed. 6. Verify electrical work meets N.E.C. code. Verify OSHA standards are being met with the use of guarding, etc.
