Bike to the Beach for Autism is Hiring an Event Support: Friday 7.29 (basic bike mechanic knowledge preferred) Near Washington, DC

Company Description

Bike to the Beach is a non-profit, 501c3, that develops networks of support for the autism and disabilities community through collaborative partnerships with non-profits, companies, and the community. Our signature fundraising events are cycling events from cities. We host these events and have a network of partners in 7 major markets around the country.

Job Description

Event Support: Friday 7.29.22 (basic bike mechanic knowledge preferred)
Bike to the Beach (B2B) for autism is looking for an individual to assist with event support (basic bike mechanic skills preferred) to assist with our 100-mile charity event from Washington DC to Dewey Beach, DE. B2B's mission is to increase awareness for autism through Autism Speaks while inspiring achievement and personal empowerment through the strength of teamwork.
We have about 500 riders registered for this charity ride for autism, but can use more mechanics to assist with the ride.
We are prepared to pay $15-20 per hour for event staff to help out the day of the ride. The event starts at 5 AM and will end around 5 PM on Friday, July 29; however, the route is long enough that we can be flexible with your start and finish time. For example, one could start at 5 AM and leave at 10 AM (our biggest need) or start at 9 AM and leave at 4 PM.
Please respond to this ad with your first and last name, email address, phone number and a resume or description of your experience with biking and/or events as why you are interested in helping out!

Qualifications

While it is ideal if you have your own vehicle we will provide transportation if you do not have a car of your own. We will leave the starting line at 5 AM, and our event support/mechanics will ride along the route in chase cars to support our riders with any bike issues that they have. The most common issue is flat tires, so those who know how to assist with basic bike maintenance are invited to help with this great event.
We could also use some seasoned bike mechanics who can fix more advanced issues, such as broken chains, gear issues, etc.

Additional Information

All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
