Overview:
The Bijou Theatre is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a part-time General Ledger Accountant / Payroll & Benefits Administrator. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing reconciliations, managing payroll, and administrating employee benefits.
Key Responsibilities:
General Ledger Maintenance:
- Manage the day-to-day bookkeeping operations of the Bijou Theatre, encompassing tasks such as processing payables, recording concessions, tracking show revenues, and managing expenditures.
- Maintain and update the general ledger to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Record financial transactions accurately and in accordance with established accounting principles and procedures.
Month-end Closing:
- Assist in the month-end closing process by preparing journal entries and adjusting entries as necessary.
- Compile financial data and assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports for Bijou staff and the Board of Directors.
Payroll Administration:
- Prepare, process, and manage payroll, including tax setup/withholding, garnishments, benefits, etc.
- Ensure timely and accurate payment of wages and salaries to employees.
- Remit payroll deductions and payroll taxes in compliance with regulations.
Benefits Administration:
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits.
- Assist employees with benefits enrollment, changes, and inquiries.
- Maintain accurate records of employee benefits participation and contributions.
Financial Analysis:
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to management on trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes as needed.
Audit Support:
- Assist with audit preparations and provide necessary documentation and support to auditors during audits.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies.
- Assist in the preparation of various regulatory permits, filings, and reports.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- Proven experience in general ledger accounting or similar role.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Schedule:
- This is a part-time position, with flexible hours based on business needs. Approximately 25-30 per week.
