Job Title: Kitchen Utility Associate

About this Role: Biggers Market, Wilmington's leading open air food market, featuring locally sourced fruit, veggies, and prepared "To go" food selections, is searching for responsible and energetic team players to join our new Kitchen.

Reports to: Kitchen Manager / Kitchen Supervisor

Attire: Biggers Brand Clothing & Apron

Compensation: $15-$18hr (Employee discount on all market goods!) (Shared Tips)

Qualifications: Prior kitchen experience required at least (1-2 years). . Able to lift and carry up to 35 lb. on level, stair and inclined areas with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to stand and work continuously in the kitchen spaces with or without reasonable accommodation.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assisting in production of all food items that go out to the markets .
• Becoming a dishwashing Ninja
• Understand proper safety, and sanitation training procedures at all times. Responsible for complying with all regulations, standards, policies, and practices applicable to all products being sold. Demonstrates a commitment to uphold Biggers high quality service standards.
• Assist team members in preparing service menu items and production items.
• Embraces and actively practices “Teamwork” and “Clean As You Go” policies.

Additional Functions

• Cleaning of all kitchen equipment, storage areas, as well walk-in and reach-in boxes for safety purposes.
• Reports any equipment in need of repair to chef and engineering for service.
• Carries out assigned tasks from team leaders or managers at Biggers Market.
• Thorough knowledge of all kitchen equipment, food products, standard recipes, and proper food preparation.
• Basic mathematical skills necessary to understand recipes, measurements, requisition amounts, and portion sizes.
• Ability to read and write the English language in order to complete requisitions, read recipes, and communicate with other associates.
• Follows all policies and procedures as described and outlined in the Biggers employee handbook.
• Must be willing to step up in any area of the kitchen to help staff during rush hours.
