ABOUT US:

Big Children’s Foundation, Inc. is a 501 ( c ) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to providing services to at-risk youth in
South Florida age 14-17, particularly those in foster care group homes and shelters, which can include victims of abuse, human trafficking, and juvenile delinquents. Our specialized programs purpose to improve their quality of life and reshape their futures. Our goal is to restore the health of their mind, body and spirit, teach them to be self- sufficient, and provide the education, skills, and professional development that will help them lead a fulfilling and successful life. Our programs build character and good morals using sound biblical principles, and teach the youth to be productive, respectful citizens in the community.

JOB OVERVIEW:

Big Children’s Foundation is seeking an Educator-Youth Program Manager (E-YPM) to develop, coordinate, administer and teach programs that are designed to heal, train, educate, empower, and reshape the futures of at-risk youth. The
E-YPM will oversee program admissions, build relationships with teens, and work closely with our staff, mentors and volunteers to execute and teach enjoyable, educational and intentional programs for our students. The E-YPM will be responsible for cultivating and maintaining partnerships with foster care agencies, shelters, high schools, post- secondary schools, churches, military branches, law enforcement, juvenile detention facilities, fitness centers, businesses, performing arts centers, etc. as well as coordinate various outreach activities. All candidates must have a minimum of 5 years direct experience and oversight in working with at-risk youth. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned teacher-leader-manager who is young at heart, energetic, creative, loves humanity, enjoys healthy personal and professional relationships, lives an active, health-conscious lifestyle, possesses high moral and ethical standards and has a strong Christian faith.

CORE RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Oversee program admissions, construct daily lesson plans, and work directly with youth age 14 up.
  • Plan, develop, and expand curriculum as needed.
  • Implement an education credit recovery component and develop an accredited alternative educational option for the youth to complete high school degree or GED.
  • Coordinate all details of programs including schedules, classes, camps, events, activities, outreach, field trips, transportation, etc.
  • Oversee and coordinate schedule of mentors, volunteers, teachers, guest speakers, etc.
  • Research and stay up to date on statistical information as it pertains to BCF mission and our students.
  • Visit DCF dashboard and regularly monitor intake and exit trends and outcomes.
  • Study statistics and educate oneself on South Florida’s vulnerable youth which includes foster care, aging-out, human trafficking and abuse, youth homelessness, and the juvenile justice system.
  • Assist with the research as needed for the creation and development marketing materials.
  • Collaborate with staff and community providers to measure outcomes and ensure youth are getting their needs met and their goals are being accomplished.
  • Create photo memory books and other memorabilia for students.
  • Purchase food, snacks, supplies, materials, clothing, etc. necessary for programs and maintain program budget.
  • Manage program grants, write and update program reports.
  • Oversee and execute mentor and volunteer trainings.
  • Administer background screenings for staff, mentors, and volunteers and maintain logs, keeping information up- to-date.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree preferred in the fields of Education, Social Work, Health and Human Services, Psychology,
  • Medical, Health, Business Management and others.
  • 4-Year Degree acceptable.
  • Teaching/leadership experience required.
  • Counseling and/or peer specialist certification preferred.
  • Must have/or receive Trauma-Informed Training. (we can provide)
  • Must have/or receive Mental Health First Aid training. (we can provide)
  • Must have/or receive Basic First Aid training. (we can provide)
  • Must have/or receive CPR certification training. (we can provide)
  • Must have valid Florida driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable vehicle.
  • Will be required to have a level-2 background screening and national sexual predator screening.
  • Will be required to attend child and family trainings, workshops, conferences, etc.
  • Must have a minimum of 5-years direct service experience and oversight of at-risk teens in any or all of the following capacities: teaching, mentoring, counseling, coaching, case management. Lesson plans include various topics such as nutrition, healthy living, physical fitness, disease prevention, creative arts, performing arts, life skills, self-sufficiency training, academic education, professional skills, career, skilled-trade development, and more.
  • Budget and grant management experience helpful, grant writing a plus.
  • Will be required to train, lead and oversee incoming junior staff and volunteers.
  • Must be non-bias, non-discriminatory, multi-cultural, respectful and kind to all.
  • Must be knowledgeable, current, relatable and respectful of youth and young adults, child welfare and family court officials, social workers, law enforcement officials, business leaders, ministry/faith leaders, medical, health and fitness professionals, et al.
  • Must live a physically active and health-conscious lifestyle and be able to physically lift 25 lbs.
  • Must have good oral and physical hygiene.
  • Must have high moral and ethical standards, support traditional family values, and possess the following BCF core values: Gratitude, Respect, Diligence, Integrity, Kindness, Compassion, Joy.
  • Must be a an honest, loyal worker with a strong work ethic.
  • Must have a positive, encouraging, resilient, can-do attitude.
  • Must be fully computer literate and knowledgeable in Outlook, Word, Excel, and Social Media platforms.

PowerPoint a plus.

  • Must be pro-active, detail oriented, efficient, and fully committed to the mission of BCF.
  • Must have excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Must speak fluent English.
  • Must be an American citizen.

HOURS, SALARY, BENEFITS:

  • Full-time, Monday - Friday, some weekends.
  • Hours: 12pm-8pm with some flexibility.
  • Up to $50,000 annually, with opportunity to advance.
  • Health Insurance after 30 days of successful employment, optional.
  • Two-week paid vacation/PTO annually. One week available after 6 months of successful employment.
