JOB DESCRIPTION

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Piedmont (BBBCP), seeks a Bilingual Match Support Specialist, tasked with facilitating the enrollment process of "Big" and "Little" mentoring relationships, “Matches.” Through conducting information sessions and interviews with families and prospective volunteers, writing assessments, processing applications, matching volunteers and youth, and completing various administrative tasks, including input of data and notes into the database. Typically, the position is based in an office and school environment. Note: Typical schedule is Monday-Friday 8:30-5:00pm.
This will be discussed further in the interview process.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Orienting Volunteers (2%)

Presents individual and group orientation sessions, to explain the program in more detail and encourage potential volunteers to continue in the enrollment process.

Interviewing (20%)

Conducts volunteer, child, and parent/guardian virtual or in-person interviews (based on Big Brothers Big Sisters of America Standards); provides child safety education; assesses and refers families for alternative or additional services or resources as needed while applying learned child safety and risk management knowledge, policies and procedures to all aspects of job.

Screening (2%)

Conducts phone and email reference checks for volunteers.
Conducts background checks on volunteers
Maintains accurate volunteer and client records.

Assessment & Recommendations (18%)

Writes thorough professional assessments of volunteers and clients providing a summary of their interview information, recommendations regarding their acceptance into the program and matching preferences.

Conducts volunteer/client reassessments and updates information as needed, always maintaining accurate records.

Match Support (46%)

Makes recommendations for participation in the site based programs.

Based on all data reviewing all enrollment information and assessments. Effectively aligns volunteer/client interests and qualifications with service options of Agency.
Pairs volunteers and children making recommendations for subsequent training and support needs, and collaborating with other staff to ensure a smooth transition among functions, and meeting matching goals.
Ensures participants have all the information they need to successfully support the Match and collaborating as needed.

Field trips 10%: Attends and coordinates 2 field trips per semester and 2 trips in the summer. Must be willing to drive children to activities when needed.

Holiday gifts 2%: Must reach out to families about holiday events. Makes a list of most needed families on caseload, and coordinate with Director of Site Based pick up and drop off (November and December).

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Academic Requirements: Bachelor’s degree.

Professional Requirements: Must possess the ability to effectively learn and utilize BBBCP internal database systems for tracking and recording information. Must be effective presenting in group environments (e.g., 5-30 people) both virtually and in-person. Experience in human services, with youth service organizations and socioeconomically diverse populations is preferred. Spanish-speaking skills are a plus. Experience as a teacher or previous experience working for Guilford County Schools a plus. Experience as a student athlete a plus. Experience in sports a plus.

Additional Requirements: Must have consistent and dependable access to a car, valid driver's license, and meet State-required automobile insurance minimums for the purpose of facilitating off-site interviews when needed. Must be able to drive our BBBS van (fits 11 people) to events and school visits when needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Routine office environment. Flexible work hours to meet customer needs (occasional evening and weekend hours required). When home visits are indicated, must travel to local communities and neighborhoods. This positions works 50% of the time in our BBBS office located in Greensboro, and 50% of the time at two Greensboro schools.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: the ability to work independently; remain sedentary for extended periods of time (4 hours per day); lift 10-15lbs; push, pull, bend kneel, as needed for normal operations.
