Description

The Camp Coordinator provides onsite and engaging leadership to the seasonal summer camp team, working closely with the Director of Camp Experience and assisting with all operational and logistical aspects of summer camp to ensure the smooth daily delivery of programming. This position leads by example with a positive, organized, and outgoing attitude.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Assist in training Staff during Pre-Camp Training and continually during summer season.

Greet staff, interview and evaluate with Coordinator and Director.

Assist Camp Program Director with Pre-Camp Training.

Help determine cabin assignments for staff.

Lead certain activities and discussions as they pertain to Pre-Camp.

Supervise Summer Camp Staff

Manage staff interactions and with campers and other staff. This includes positive and negative staff behavior.

Ensure necessary support systems and equipment are in place so that staff has any necessary tools to complete duties effectively. 

Provide oversight and supervision to all summer camp activities.

Make Cabin Assignments on opening days with Camp Program Director

Assess the needs of the campers on opening days and throughout sessions. 

Assess the needs of the staff on opening days and throughout sessions. 

Coordinate meals and snacks with kitchen personnel.

Coordinate all transportation needs for cabin groups.

Assist with issues concerning children.

Assist with managing camper behaviors.

Assist with managing camper medical needs. 

Provide oversight to Medical Cabin and Nurses.

Ensure that all supplies needed are available.

Provide supervision and guidance to Medical Staff.

Assist in the decision-making process of medical needs of campers and staff with the medical staff.

Assist in Camp Administration.

Any and all duties as assigned by the Camp Program Director or Camp Director. 

Requirements

• Previous camping experience, experience with children, and experience managing staff. 
• At least 21 years of age.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred by not required (ex: social work, psychology, education, criminal justice, etc.)
• Desire to work with youth.
• Ability to work in high-stress situations.
