Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central New Mexico, the state’s leading youth mentoring organization, is seeking a full-time Volunteer Recruiter and Experience Coordinator .

Salary Range: $38,000 - $40,000 (annual)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Volunteer Recruiter and Experience Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to recruit volunteers, ensuring they have an exceptional enrollment experience, and coordinating activities within the Mentor Advisory Council (MAC). As the primary liaison between Fundraising, Enrollment, and Programs, you’ll play a crucial role in streamlining services and fostering collaboration across departments. Responsibilities:

Volunteer Recruitment

  • Aggressive Goal Achievement: Meet volunteer mentor recruiting goals aligned with the volunteer yield rate.
  • Strategic Moves: Execute weekly, monthly, and quarterly recruitment “moves” using diverse approaches (individual meetings, group presentations, tablings, phone calls, emails, texts, and social media).
  • Lead Generation: Generate new leads to drive mentor and mentee enrollments.
  • Recruitment Campaigns: Develop and execute recruitment campaigns throughout the year, including theme setting, budgeting, and stakeholder buy-in.
  • Obstacle Overcoming: Strategize to overcome objections and obstacles in recruiting mentors.
  • Partner Engagement: Maintain consistent and thorough partner engagement, from initial contact to agreement closure and follow-up.

Experience Coordination

  • Volunteer Experience Enhancement: Ensure volunteers have an exceptional experience throughout their journey.
  • Cross-Departmental Coordination: Streamline services for transitions between recruitment, enrollment, and matching.
  • Procedures and Oversight: Create and update procedures, provide oversight, and hold managers accountable.
  • KPI Tracking: Recommend and set key performance indicators (KPIs) related to volunteer experience.
  • Training Support: Assist with staff and volunteer training initiatives.
  • Alignment with Annual Plans: Ensure efforts align with annual plans, budgeting, and recruitment benchmarks.

Mentor Advisory Council Coordination

  • Co-chair meetings, track goals, and support subcommittees.
  • Engage council members and coordinate mentor meet-ups.
  • Collaborate with department leaders, active mentor groups, and MAC members.
  • Report committee activities to AD/CDO.
  • Assist CDO in executing annual communication and stewardship plan.
  • Keep volunteers engaged and passionate about our mission.
  • Coordinate volunteer activities, including onboarding new mentors.
  • Facilitate mentor buddies, ‘Pod’ mentor groups, and social events.
  • Set and meet benchmark goals for mentor participation.
  • Report committee activities to CPO.

Collaboration and Teamwork Outside Department

  • Serve on committees to optimize volunteer satisfaction and mission outcomes.
  • Eventually lead internal and external committees related to volunteer and donor satisfaction.
  • Engage with BBBS sister agency peers and community partners in youth service.
  • Collaborate on innovative and solutions-based strategies.
  • Track committee participation, lead roles, completed actions, and peer group involvement.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • High school graduate with two or more years in sales, volunteer recruitment, fundraising, or leading grassroots campaigns.
  • Competent in small-medium size event planning.
  • Goal-driven approach to work with a demonstrated ability to develop rapport with individuals from diverse sectors.
  • Persuasive written and face-to-face verbal communication with proven results.
  • Ability to successfully work independently, as well as in a team environment.

Preferred Skills/Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher.

Physical/Base Requirements:

  • Use personal vehicle to travel across service area, with primary work in metro ABQ.
  • Attend evening/weekend activities/events.
  • Proficient computer skills including use of MS365 software such as SharePoint, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. In addition, knowledge on how to use business database software such as Salesforce.
  • Minimal physical requirements: walking, standing, sitting at workstation; normal office environment.
