Bienville Orthopaedic Specialists is Hiring a Pre-Admission Registered Nurse Near Vancleave, MS

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the pre-operative planning for patients who are scheduled for surgery. All job duties will be in accordance with established Federal, State, and accreditation standards and Center policies and procedures.

  • Standard II Practices all facets of health & safety. 
  • Standard III Practices human resource responsibility. 
  • Standard IV Demonstrates competence in the performance of duties and responsibilities related to tasks, skills, and procedures rendered to the clients served. 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience/Licenses/Certificates/Eligibility: Current state licensure and BCLS required, ACLS/PALS preferred. Prefer two (2) years experience as a Registered Nurse. 
Eligibility: All employees must be able to provide proof of their identity and their right to work in the United States. 
Skills/Knowledge/Ability: 
  • Participates as a team member for the planning and implementation of patient care and promotes the positive first impression of Bienville Surgery Center to our patients and/or families.
  • Assesses and coordinates data submitted by the provider’s offices and coordinates the process of obtaining information such as history and physicals, orders, etc. Develops a good working relationship with the provider’s staff.
  • Initiates and completes the pre-operative call for patients scheduled for surgery and acquires a detailed medical history and performs a risk assessment for all patients. Pre-screens for any special health history that may include: cardiac clearance, history of heart issues, history of diabetes, and BMI discrepancies. 
  • Communicates any issues found during the pre-admission assessment to the clinical director, administrator, anesthesiologist, and any other pertinent staff.
  • Exemplifies comprehension of nursing concepts and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Center policies that govern patient care.
  • Serves as backup staff in Pre-Op/PACU as needed. Will perform any other duties as requested by a clinical director that is within the staff member’s scope of practice and ability.
  • Possesses organizational skills which include prioritization, planning, assessing, implementing, evaluation, teaching, and time management.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively as a team member and the ability to act efficiently and rationally in an emergent situation.
MACHINES, EQUIPMENT, WORK AIDES: Telephone and fax. Standard surgery center machinery and equipment, including patient monitors.
