The Deputy Research Director for Self-Research will oversee the day-to-day management and training of the self-research team. This position will build out our long-term research on the Biden-Harris administration - focusing on the main pillars of the administration’s accomplishments and assessing its vulnerabilities. Additionally, this position will strategically prepare materials to pushback against incoming attacks against the administration. This role will also help manage the flow of incoming research requests from the communications and digital teams. 

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the flow of incoming research requests and outgoing research products.
• Develop and execute self-research plans that focus on the Biden-Harris administration’s accomplishments and vulnerabilities. 
• Provide rapid response and communications staff with succinct documents that can be used to generate public-facing content to tout or defend the administration’s record. 
• Lead the training, long-term management, and development of research associates. 
• Monitor the daily news cycle and breaking news events to identify opportunities for further research or to insert the team’s existing research into the national conversation to accomplish the campaign’s strategic goals. 
• Work with research associates to develop, guide, and edit research products. 

• At least two cycles of experience in political research on a campaign or political committee, preferably in a leadership role. 
• Previous experience managing at least two researchers. 
• Deep understanding of politics, political campaigns, and the daily news cycle. 
• Ability to consistently generate ideas and think creatively about how to defend the administration’s record. 
• Significant experience and ability to train research associates on LexisNexis and other common research tools. 
• Ability to manage and track progress on long-term projects and appropriately delegate to team members to complete projects on tight deadlines.
