JOB TITLE: Certified Flagger
DEPARTMENT: Construction
REPORTS TO: Supervisor
LOCATION: Bush International Airport
TEMP-TO-HIRE: Hours TBD, 12-hour shift, 6 days a week
COMPENSATION: $14.62 - $18.32 D.O.E.
EFFECTIVE DATE: 1/1/2024
SUMMARY OF POSITION
Our client is looking for a Flagger to assist with construction projects at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport. You will be responsible for directing cars and machinery, so you need to have a keen sense of your surroundings, strictly observe safety regulations, and be willing to work in all weather conditions, especially heat. Our ideal candidate has experience in the construction industry, but we are willing to work with anyone who has the communication skills and physical stamina to perform the duties.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Keep workers aware of traffic conditions
• Place warning signs to alert drivers
• Sets up traffic zones including job site signs, cones, barriers, etc. according to regulations or plans, and breaks down at the end of the job;
• Collects materials when jobs have been completed and maintains accurate inventory of signs and equipment;
• Performs general labor duties as needed;
• Follows all safety rules and regulations and practices preventive safety measures;
• Performs flagging duties on an asphalt and/or concrete patching crew;
• Directs traffic by using the sign paddle appropriately.
• Report negligent drivers
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or GED certificate
• ATSSA certificate (required)
• Familiarity with traffic laws
• Physical stamina: Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Teamwork, organizational, and communication skills
• Experience managing crews, traffic, or job sites
• Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record;
• Must be insurable by the Company’s vehicle insurance.
• Security License (preferred but not required)
