Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and organized Medical Office Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a medical office setting, be familiar with medical terminology, and possess excellent customer service skills. As a Medical Office Assistant, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to healthcare professionals and ensuring the smooth operation of the office.
Responsibilities:
- Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
- Schedule appointments and manage the physician's calendar
- Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries or direct them to the appropriate staff member
- Maintain patient records and update information as necessary
- Verify insurance coverage and process insurance claims
- Assist with prior authorizations
- Prepare office rooms for patients and clean up after use.
- Perform basic clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, collecting specimens, and assisting with procedures under the supervision of medical staff
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Medical Office Assistant mandatory.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures
- Proficiency in using electronic health record systems (such as Dentrix)
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with phone systems and ability to handle high call volumes
