JOB SUMMARY

This position supports the development and implementation of district wide Title I Parent Engagement programs to ensure compliance with the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). This position


DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Works with Title I schools within feeder zones to coordinate school-wide parent engagement activities including MEP and Immigrant.
  • Monitors school parent involvement Title I compliance documentation.
  • Develops and implements tools and guidance to assist Title I schools with parent involvement compliance as well as parent engagement strategies.
  • Provides technical assistance to Title I school Family Engagement Facilitators and other personnel.
  • Develops and conducts professional learning/staff development activities, meetings, and conferences.
  • Develops parent engagement publications.
  • Develops and implements parent engagement communication initiatives, including social media and website design.
  • Maintains and applies current knowledge and professional expertise in parent engagement strategies.
  • Works collaboratively with the Title I Family Engagement Program Coordinator on various projects and initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree in Education,. Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, or related field; Master’s degree preferred. Four (4) years of professional level experience working with families providing education and/or social services related services in a school, non-profit, and/or public agency setting. Experience must include developing and presenting professional development trainings. Experience in working with adult learners. Or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training that provides the required knowledge and abilities.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Working knowledge of parent involvement requirements of ESEA as well as family engagement research and literature.
  • Thorough knowledge of parental involvement mandates as required by federal law, particularly as it relates to Title I, Part A, Section 1118.
  • Knowledge of use of technology to support learning and as a tool.
  • Skill in the use of computers and software applications related to the essential functions of the job.
  • Skill in effective communication, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent technology skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, social media and other innovative technology and graphic design programs.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and group communications skills.
  • Excellent planning, organization, management, and human relations skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully collaborate with school personnel, staff, parents, and other support agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability in self-motivation/initiative.
  • Ability to effectively work with parents and staff.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.

CERTIFICATION, LICENSE AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Frequent extended day work required. Occasional attendance at evening meetings, conferences, events and sports.
