Bibb County Public Schools is Hiring an ARP - Athletic Trainer Near Macon, GA

The Bibb County School District is now accepting applications for the 2021-2022 school year. 

This is a temporary position that is funded by the American Rescue Plan Act. It will end at the conclusion of the grant cycle.

Summary Description of Classification:

The Athletic Trainer will be dedicated and invested in the success of our athletes. The Athletic Trainer will work with medical professionals and coaches to evaluate athletes’ condition, establish plans for diet, fitness and treatment, and track process toward health and fitness goals. You should be motivated to assist athletes, coaches and families to realize their potential and possess a strong understanding of sports related injuries and treatment.

To be a successful Athletic Trainer, you should be committed to ensuring athletes accomplish their health and fitness goals and receive the proper training and treatment. You should be caring, knowledgeable, and passionate about the success of your athletes. This job classification requires a flexible working schedule that includes nights and weekends.

Reports To: Athletic Director and Principal

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Working with coaches, athletes, and medical professionals to evaluate the player’s condition.
  2. Creating exercise and nutrition plans.
  3. Speaking with coaches, family members and athletes to set health and fitness goals.
  4. Designing training and rehabilitation programs for athletes.
  5. Using knowledge of sports-related injuries to diagnose and treat athletes.
  6. Referring athletes to a doctor or other medical staff members.
  7. Assisting and monitoring injured players as they heal and progress towards recovery. 
  8. Maintaining records relating to the athlete’s condition and training, diet and treatment plans.
  9. Handling clerical tasks, such as maintaining inventory, assisting with budgets, or restocking supplies.
  10. Perform any other duties as assigned by the athletic director, principal, district athletic director, and/or superintendent.

Requirements:

  1. NATA certification and Georgia Board of Athletic Trainers License.
  2. Bachelor’s degree form an accredited college or university.
  3. Valid driver’s license.
  4. CPR, AED and First Aid Certification.
  5. Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions.

Terms of Employment:

  • Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
  • The athletic trainer will work in accordance with a weekly schedule to be determined by the Athletic Director. Weekly schedules will vary according to the athletic season.
  • The work day during the school term will begin at 1:30 Monday through Friday. Some weekend work will be expected.

Physical Requirements:

Sitting, Standing, lifting and carrying (Up to 50 lbs.), reaching, climbing stairs, squatting, kneeling, and moving equipment/light furniture may be required.

Equipment/Material Handled:

Athletic and medical supplies used for prevention and treatment of injuries. Surgical gloves need to be utilized when treating injuries.

Work Environment:

Must be able to work with various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Work surface will vary from concrete to grass to hard wood floors. Job responsibilities require both inside and outside assignments. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignment without direct supervision. After hours work may be required. Make site or home visits when needed and appropriate. Must be able to work under stressful conditions.
