BHC Consultants is Hiring a Civil 3D Designer Near Seattle, WA

BHC Consultants is a consulting engineering, planning, and building code and construction compliance firm with offices in Seattle, Tacoma, and Bellingham. We are looking for a full-time Civil 3D Designer in one of our three office locations. Collaboration with staff in all offices should be expected; preferred location can be prioritized.

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Civil 3D Designer will be able to produce system models and engineering drawings from design information provided by engineers. The incumbent will work with engineers to interpret and develop design concepts, determine nature and type of required detailed working drawings, and coordinate work with others. This role requires 3 years of experience using Autodesk Civil 3D software. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Create and modify Autodesk Civil 3D models and AutoCAD drawings based on information provided by engineers.
  • Participate in the Civil 3D User Group by supporting and collaborating to develop and improve Civil 3D CAD standards and procedures.
  • Work on multiple projects across multi-disciplines.
  • Review all work to verify accuracy and completeness of drawings.
  • Complete work before project deadlines.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 3 years experience in Autodesk Civil 3D required
  • Technical or community college education in using AutoCAD
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD applications and practices, specifically AutoCAD in the field of civil design (plans, profiles, sections, and details for water, wastewater, stormwater, roads, and site development).
  • Experience developing, updating, and maintaining Autodesk Civil 3D standards, templates, tools, etc. specifically with Pipe Networks and Part Builder, creating and editing surfaces, and using grading tools in Civil 3D.
  • Creating alignments and profiles using latest versions of the Autodesk Civil 3D software, operating with vertical and horizontal scales, creating data shortcuts, and creating pipe network systems.
  • Strong and diverse knowledge base and proven experience in developing and working with Autodesk Civil 3D models and reading multi-disciplined drawings and concept understanding.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and quick to learn CAD standards and procedures.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing).
  • Work independently and as a member of our CAD team.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS

Washington State Driver’s License and insurable driving record preferred.
