Bhate Environmental Associates is Hiring a Commercial Services Group Manager (Environmental Services) Near Birmingham, AL

Job Title: Commercial Services Group Manager – Environmental Services (Birmingham, AL)

Reports to: Executive Vice President

FLSA Status: Exempt

Bhate Environmental Associates, Inc. (www.bhate.com) is seeking to fill a position for a Commercial Services Group (CSG) Manager. The CSG supports an array of clients such as financial institutions, real estate brokers and developers, A/E and construction firms, local governments, universities, ADEM, ALDOT, ADOC and other commercial institutions. The CGS performs a variety of projects such as Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments, asbestos, lead-based paint, mold inspections, NPDES stormwater compliance monitoring, SPCC and BMP plans, UST closures, preliminary and secondary investigations, stormwater sampling, inspections, soil, and groundwater sampling, ARBCA evaluations and remediation/corrective actions.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Execution:

  • Develop project proposals, planning documents, managing budgets, schedules, and managing a team of environmental professionals.
  • Ensure coordination among team members, aligning efforts to achieve project goals, quality control, and maintaining schedule adherence.
  • Responsible for managing the department finances, including timesheets, expense reports, budget tracking, and preparation of cost proposals and invoices.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations during project execution.

Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs):

  • Conduct thorough ESAs to evaluate potential environmental risks associated with properties.
  • Oversee various projects sites associated with the Federal LTF Trust Fund, ADEM LTF Trust Fund, ALDOT programs, and ADOC.
  • Assess soil, groundwater, and air quality.
  • Identify and document any hazardous materials present.

Property Condition Assessments (PCAs):

  • Perform PCAs to evaluate the physical condition of commercial properties.
  • Assess building systems, structural components, and environmental factors.
  • Provide detailed reports on findings and recommendations.

Client Communication:

  • Collaborate with clients to understand project requirements and objectives.
  • Provide regular updates on project status, milestones, and potential risks.
  • Address client inquiries and concerns promptly.
  • Marketing, hosting lunch & learn, webinars for banks, real estate agencies and developers.

Team Leadership and Coordination:

  • Lead project teams, including field technicians, subcontractors, and consultants.
  • Delegate tasks, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to project schedules.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.

Risk Management:

  • Identify and mitigate project risks related to hazardous materials.
  • Implement safety protocols and ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines.
  • Address unexpected challenges promptly and effectively.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Prepare comprehensive reports detailing survey results, abatement activities, and environmental findings.
  • Maintain accurate records of project data, including photographs and documentation.
  • Review/QC of department documents including proposals and comprehensive reports.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study such as engineering, geology, environmental science, or related field.
  • The candidate should have at least 8-10 years of relevant experience and project management.
  • Professional registration (PE, PG, CHMM, REM, etc.) is a plus.
