BGE is seeking an Env. Scientist - Assistant PM who has good experience and knowledge specific to TxDOT's environmental policy manual. This includes; workflow for Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments, and Environmental Impact Statements, including dealing with the TxDOT Environmental Affairs Division (ENV) and the various resource agencies required for ultimate approval of the environmental documents.

Job Responsibilities

• Manage projects and teams to ensure scope of work is completed.
• Collect project related data which may include research, conducting surveys, interviews with government agencies, landowners and clients, and resource map reviews.
• Provide expertise and technical support for multi-discipline areas of environmental studies.
• Evaluate environmental impacts in association with field data collected for use in environmental documents.
• Generate reports on field investigations, permit application packages, alternatives analysis and mitigation plans.
• Prepare and review environmental reports, permits, and related materials.
• Assist public and private clients with permit coordination, acquisition and compliance.
• Proficient in mitigation process and procedures
• Perform advanced QA/QC implementation and oversight.
• Communicates scientific and technical information to the project manager and project team.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• 5-7 or more years of environmental science experience supporting the transportation industry, such as National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) work with TxDOT, a State or Federal Resource agency, a local government or metropolitan planning organization (MPO).
• Bachelor's degree or higher preferred in environmental science, biology, ecology, natural resources, geosciences, geography, or related field.
• Solid organizational and technical writing skills.
• Effective time-management, written communication, analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Articulate with professional presence and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work effectively in team situations and establish strong relationships with other teams where overlap of client project work exists.
• Proficient with Microsoft 365, ArcGIS
• Must be able to conduct fieldwork, in sometimes inclement weather conditions, and be able to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
• Knowledge of NEPA, and other local, state and federal regulatory requirements for environmental compliance and permitting.
