Appropriate Massachusetts DESE certification required.EDUCATIONAL TRAINING/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:A Teacher should be DESE certified, have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in the appropriate content area, and hold a valid Massachusetts Teacher Certificate. POSITION SUMMARYA Teacher creates a plan of instruction and a class environment that is favorable to learning and personal growth; establishes effective rapport with pupils; motivates pupils to develop skills, positive attitudes and knowledge; and establishes good relationships with parents and other staff members.RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSDirector of Learning
  1. Provide direct instruction for students.
  2. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences and learning styles.
  3. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, and materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of learning styles and needs of students assigned.
  4. Manage student behavior to achieve an effective learning environment and in compliance with district and state guidelines.
  5. Work collaboratively with other staff members to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
  6. Provide timely and appropriate plans for substitutes as necessary.
  7. Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning through formal and informal testing.
  8. Persistent belief in the potential for all students to succeed academically with an asset-based mindset
  9. Ability to communicate respectfully and in a culturally proficient manner with parents/guardians about student progress and language acquisition
  10. Ability to analyze and utilize student data to develop and/or co-create curriculum and instruction that meets the needs of diverse learners.
