Description

 The Production Shift Supervisor manages up to 3 production lines in our SQF certified food manufacturing facility. This individual is responsible for leading 3 team of 8-12 individuals to successfully meet or exceed the production and training goals set for the facility while meeting quality standards set for the product.

Technical skills and being hands on are very important, not only will you be Developing a team, but you will be making sure the production line is running properly with daily challenges that occur. Lean/Continuous improvement knowledge is very important, this will be very useful for your team and company growth.

Essential Job Duties:

• Learn and be able to set-up, operate, and adjust all the equipment used in production.
• Troubleshoot and correct most of the problems on the equipment without assistance.
• Inspire a productive and cohesive team environment.
• Set the daily example for behavior and attitude.
• Meet or exceed your daily production and training goals. 
• Support and facilitate the continuous improvement activities using Lean Manufacturing Principles and tools.
• Ensure production batch records and quality documentation are always completed correctly.
• Understand company food safety and food quality system.
• Understand and enforce GMPs, relevant SOPs, and the employee handbook. 
• Manage new and on-going training for your team members.
• Work with the VP Manufacturing and HR on disciplinary issues. 
• Work directly with HR to ensure staffing levels are maintained.
• Work on the production line with your team while monitoring the overall progress.
• Understand BetterBody Foods ERP systems and processes in order to maintain an accurate inventory. 
• Ensure that the line is left clean and ready for use at the end of each shift.

Supervisor must be familiar with the acceptable taste, odor, and color of the products.

Requirements

 Basic Qualifications:

Highly attentive to details

1-2 years leadership experience in a food production environment

Able to lift up-to 50 pounds consistently

Good communication skills

Fork lift skills a plus

Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus

Supervisory Responsibility

This job requires direct supervision of 8-12 employees and indirect supervision of 30-40 employees.

Work Environment

This job operates in a production setting. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is sometimes exposed to odors, fumes, dust or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is sometimes expected to taste the products.

Certain products handled by the company contain Milk, Peanut, and Coconut allergens.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. 

The employee is required to stand, walk, use hands and arms to perform repetitive tasks including reaching and lifting. 

Job requirements

Able to stand for an 10-hour shift

Production Shift Hours are (Morning shift) 5:00am to 3:30pm (Night shift) 4pm – 2:30am Monday – Thursday or Tuesday – Friday (alternating)

Overtime might be required at times

Occasional weekend work

Education/Experience requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent

2-5 years leadership experience in a food production environment
