Better Life Partners is Hiring a Remote Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

At Better Life Partners, we aim to rebuild communities by transforming lives.

Today we are specifically focused on bringing high quality, accessible and effective mental health and addiction care to those with Addiction Disorders, especially those in communities for whom traditional care has been found lacking. We provide evidence-based, scalable, holistic healthcare with a harm reduction philosophy, while working alongside community-based organizations to ensure that our care is accessible, non-punitive and responsive to our communities. We build trusted relationships and healing spaces to nourish Belonging, Love, and Purpose.

Our Mental Health team is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to provide medication treatment for opioid use disorder and comprehensive psychiatric evaluations. Responsibilities also include reviewing and establishing psychiatric diagnoses and implementing treatment plans for our members. The majority of members have a dual diagnosis and are receiving dedicated, group-based treatment for substance use disorders in addition to the individual mental health care you would provide. If you thrive in a dynamic environment and have an affinity for working with people with dual diagnosis, this is the role for you!

In this role, you will interact with members and families, referral sources, field staff, and members of the local medical community. You will be a resource for members and community partners, guiding them on the path to recovery. You will work side by side with our licensed counselors, helping our members find their way. Your work is essential to the member and your constant feedback will be expected to help them have the best outcome possible. Your vital work will allow members to receive quality care in their communities and help make a better life within reach. Most of the care will be delivered via telemedicine, with support from community health workers and peer recovery coaches under supervision of a psychiatrist and an addiction medicine specialist.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrating and communicating the core values of Better Life Partners
  • Diagnosing and prescribing appropriate medication in accordance with Better Life Partners treatment guidelines
  • Participating in psychiatric and addiction medicine supervision and consultation
  • Participating in Better Life Partners and their community research and public health partners’ research and data collection efforts
  • Facilitating group therapy and medical education sessions for Better Life Partners clients
  • Consulting one-on-one with clients when deemed necessary
  • Collaborating with community partners and Better Life Partners’ counselors on case management and care coordination efforts
  • Adhering to professional and ethical work standards
  • Maintaining compliance with federal, state and local regulations
  • Attending and engaging in regular training and company meetings

Qualifications:

  • Several years of experience in mental health practice or MAT outpatient program
  • VT license as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP); multistate licensure a plus
  • Experience with telemedicine or technologically savvy and willing to learn
  • Competition of SAMHSA training for Buprenorphine X-Waiver training (24 hours online, free), or willingness to do so upon hire
  • Excellent time management and strong attention to detail
  • Exceptionally strong work ethic
  • Team player with an “all hands on deck” attitude, organized/able to multitask
