Better Days Integrated Programs is Hiring a Therapeutic Boxing Coach Near Inglewood, CA

Bellicose Athletics, associated with Better Days Integrated Programs, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that works toward a world where behavioral health disorders are not a limit to achieving a meaningful life in the community. We envision being an essential member of a community network that helps prevent behavioral health disorders and provides the care and support people need to lead healthy, productive lives.

Under general supervision of the Program Coordinator, the Athletic Coach will provide boxing training for participants, both adult and youth classes, and assist with the activities of the Bellicose Athletics program. The Athletics Coach is responsible for training individuals in boxing with a mindfulness approach. Coaches will receive training on understanding trauma, mindfulness and a variety of grounding techniques. A valid driver’s license is required for this position.

· Perform duties in collaboration with a Rehabilitation Specialist; may train or support other coaches as needed

· Review and implement boxing/athletics techniques and curriculum

· Maintain record of participant attendance

· Work in collaboration with Rehab Specialist to document participant progress

· Create personalized workout routines

· Set-up/Break-down session area

· Follow health and safety guidelines

Additional Responsibilities:

· Provide a quality, competitive environment to train and motivate participants in the sport of boxing and other athletics program

· Supervise and instruct participants on safe techniques and physical training regimens

· Monitor program activities during training and practice times; evaluate performances of program participants, explain techniques and assist with skill improvement

· Promote a positive recreation environment and good personal behavior

· Maintain prompt and regular attendance

· Coordinate, promote, implement and evaluate program activities as assigned

· Organize and coordinate group practices and physical workouts

· Monitor guests and program participants; enforce rules, regulations and safety precautions

· Assemble and disassemble equipment in preparation for activities and events; maintain equipment and facilities in clean and safe condition

· Assist in determining equipment and material needs for program activities

· Interact with public, community resource agencies and other organizations to promote athletic activities

· Participate in staff development meetings and in quality-of-care activities on a regular basis

· Interact with co-workers and organizational staff in a collaborative and customer service oriented manner

· Perform all duties within the context of the BDIPS and Bellicose Athletics mission statements

Required Training:

To ensure comprehension of therapeutic techniques that will be included in the coaching process, each Boxing/Athletics Coach will be required to complete and maintain annual certification in the following areas:

· Mittwork

· Foot Work

· Boxing Fundamentals

· Athletic Training

· Lesson/Workout Plans

· Trauma-Informed Care

· Mindfulness Techniques

· Mandated Abuse Reporting

Qualifications and Education Requirements

· High School Diploma or G.E.D. (Required)

· U.S.A. Boxing Coach Certification (preferred)

· First Aid, CPR and Blood Borne Pathogens Certified; or must acquire within six months of employment

· Personal Training certification (Preferred)

· Bi-lingual Spanish speaking (Preferred)

· Valid Driver's License (Required)

· US work authorization (Required)

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community

· Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

· Ability to gather, analyze, interpret, summarize and document data using technology for effective clinical decision-making regarding patient evaluation and treatment

· Excellent self-management skills and detail-oriented

· Proficiency at computer required

· Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities

· Ability to create, compose and edit written materials
