Bettcher Industries, Inc. is Hiring a Quality Technician Near Birmingham, OH

Essential Functions: 

  • Acts as primary CMM support for fixture setup and troubleshooting.
  • Audit jobs throughout production to ensure process is being followed and record/report results.
  • Inspect products using gages, measurement tools, scales, and vision prior to shipment and throughout the production process.
  • Inspect, measure and test incoming raw materials and components.
  • Generate spreadsheets for data collection.
  • Reconcile final inspection documentation for shipments.
  • Interact with production personnel and auditors (internal and external) as needed.
  • Responsible for calibration of measurement tools including uploading data into QADB,
  • Medical certificates of conformance documentation, and QC Calc data collection and SPC data collection.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Preferred 2 years of experience in a cross-functional Quality Control role.
  • Mechanical Aptitude required.
  • Previous experience as team lead or strong desire to become team leader preferred. 

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to demonstrate proper usage of gages (i.e., calipers, micrometers, scales, pin gages optical comparator, hardness testing, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and/or technical drawings including basic GD&T and apply the information as it relates to gaging, dimensioning, and tolerancing.
  • Ability to measure parts with CMM.
  • Must be able to perform simple shop math.
  • Basic computer skills including typing and ability to enter data into Bettcher workstations.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills, Excel experience required.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to keep accurate records.
  • Ability to follow documented procedures and standards.
  • Excellent time-management skills with the ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Clear communication (oral and written) skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor others.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills to relate with all members of the team.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to work for extended periods of time at a workstation on a computer or similar device. Occasional extended periods of standing, bending, kneeling.

Working Conditions: This job operates in a manufacturing setting. This role routinely is in an air-conditioned environment with exposure to loud sounds and distracting noise levels. This role will be required to wear safety attire on a daily basis. Exposure to contaminants and hazardous equipment.
