About the Role
The Director of Product Operations - Risk and Fraud oversees the development and implementation of a comprehensive fraud and risk management strategy, collaborating with cross-functional teams to align with business objectives and stay ahead of emerging threats. This role will lead the product development lifecycle for risk management solutions, working closely with various teams to design and deliver effective tools. Through proactive risk mitigation measures and real-time monitoring systems, they identify and respond to potential risks and fraud patterns. They also focus on automating manual processes, reviewing business rules, analyzing transactional data, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering collaboration within and outside the organization. As a leader, they mentor and develop their team, ensuring motivation, productivity, and compliance with all relevant regulations and legislation.
Responsibilities
Strategy Development:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement a comprehensive fraud and risk management strategy aligned with business objectives.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging threats, and technological advancements to continually enhance fraud prevention measures.
Product Leadership:
  • Lead the product development lifecycle for fraud and risk management solutions, from ideation to implementation.
  • Work closely with engineering, data science, compliance and analytics teams to design and deliver effective risk mitigation tools and features.
Risk Mitigation:
  • Identify, analyze, and assess potential risks and fraud patterns affecting BetMGM's platforms.
  • Implement robust risk detection mechanisms and real-time monitoring systems to promptly identify and respond to suspicious activities.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and analyses to identify potential vulnerabilities and areas for improvement.
  • Utilize data analytics and reporting tools to monitor and evaluate fraud patterns and trends.
  • Automation of Manual Operational Processes:
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual operational processes related to fraud detection and risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including technology and data science, to implement automated solutions that enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Business Rules Review:
  • Conduct regular reviews of existing business rules and models to ensure they remain effective and aligned with industry best practices.
  • Proactively identify areas for improvement and optimization in fraud prevention and risk management rules.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
  • Utilize data analytics tools to monitor and analyze transactional data, identifying patterns and anomalies that may indicate fraudulent activity.
  • Develop and present insightful reports to stakeholders, providing actionable recommendations based on data analysis.
Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including operations, customer support, and legal teams, to ensure a holistic and integrated approach to fraud and risk management.
  • Work closely with external partners, vendors, and industry organizations to share insights and best practices.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners to address concerns and implement proactive measures.
Compliance:
  • Ensure that fraud and risk management processes comply with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Stay informed about changes in regulations related to online gaming and sports betting and adapt strategies accordingly.
Training and Development:
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the fraud and risk management team.
  • Develop training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of team members.
  • Look for ways of working with the rest of the BI team to fully automate where the same analysis needs to be repeated weekly or periodically.
  • Encourages communication and collaboration across the business, team, and stakeholders to build strong relationships and develop cross functional working.
Essential Functions
  • Must be able to stand or sit and operate computers and other technological devices for extended periods of time
Qualifications
  • 10 Years in a payments risk and fraud prevention role, with most of that within a manager or leadership position – preferably in online gaming, eCommerce, or financial services company
  • Deep understanding of fraud prevention technologies, risk detection methodologies, and data analytics.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance standards in the online gaming and sports betting industry.
  • Demonstrated success in leading product teams and delivering innovative solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to effectively articulate data insights
  • Interest in customer behavior and telling their story though the data.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to understand and query data.
  • Good problem-solving ability
  • Able to multi-task and work on multiple projects at once
  • Curious in nature
  • Good verbal reasoning skills
  • Articulate and confident when presenting the output of your work.
  • Highly data and statistical driven

Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. The position is also eligible for an annual bonus.
